Breakthrough in Vietnam's orthopedic trauma industry

(VTC News) – At the 26th annual meeting of the Thai Hip and Knee Association, Vietnam's orthopedic trauma industry marked an important milestone.

Within the framework of the 26th annual meeting of the Thai Hip and Knee Society (THKS), the 16th meeting of the ASEAN Knee Association (AAA) and the 10th conference of the Asian Knee Association (ASIA) taking place from November 28 to 30 in Hua Hin, Thailand, the Vietnamese orthopedic industry marked an important milestone.

The groundbreaking reports presented by Dr. Tang Ha Nam Anh and the team of doctors from the Vietnam Orthopedic Clinic not only affirm Vietnam's position on the regional medical map, but also open up promising directions for the future.

The biggest highlight of the conference was the advanced hip replacement technique, which allows patients to be discharged after only 24 hours. This is the first time in the history of the Vietnamese and ASEAN healthcare sector that this method has been successfully applied. The SuperPath technique – with a small incision, without cutting muscles – helps minimize soft tissue damage, effectively reduce pain and shorten recovery time. Thousands of safe surgeries have been performed since 2018, confirming the superiority of this method.

In addition, the Medial Pivot knee replacement technique, which does not cut the quadriceps muscle, also made a strong impression. This method helps patients walk after 5 hours of surgery, leave the hospital after only 24 to 48 hours, and restore natural gait early.

These reports not only highlight the remarkable technical progress but also emphasize the practical applicability, suitable for the physical and economic conditions of patients in the region.

In particular, in 2025, Vietnam will be honored to host the scientific conference of the Asia Pacific Joint Replacement Association, the Asia Pacific Hip Association and the ASEAN Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine Association. This is the first time Vietnam has been chosen to host the largest continental conference on joint replacement.

The conference is expected to gather about 100 speakers from all over the world, to give lectures and present the latest research results on joint replacement, endoscopy, and regenerative medicine.
