'If I were to sell and curse at the same time, I wouldn't even want the noodles with diamonds or gems. Shameful!'; 'Is there no other place in Ho Chi Minh City to eat that I have to go to that noodle shop that curses at me?'; 'Delicious! It's fun to spend money to eat and listen to the curses!'...

Those are some of the readers' comments below the article titled "Bun chua" by the notorious Saigon girl Huyen posted on Tuoi Tre Online on November 24.

Bun Nuoc Co Huyen is an extremely controversial dining place in Ho Chi Minh City, even the restaurant's reviews are often average to poor, on Google map, the restaurant only has 2.9 stars with 299 reviews; and on Foody.vn, the restaurant has a score of 3.2 with countless 1-point ratings.

Go eat or go to mortify?

Most of Tuoi Tre Online readers' opinions also think that this is an experience not worth trying.

Reader Nhan commented on his first and last visit to Ms. Huyen's restaurant: "The food is not really delicious, but the price is a bit high. They don't make individual bowls, but batches of dozens of bowls before bringing them to customers, making customers wait quite a long time.

The seats are not really clean, the swearing is quite annoying. Overall, nothing special, just ate once and won't come back."

Green Field said: "I ate it out of curiosity. I ate it in 2016 and found it normal. The broth tasted like MSG so I didn't eat it anymore."

As for the restaurant's specialty of "swearing", as mentioned in the previous article, Ms. Huyen does not swear at customers but only speaks loudly as a way to create her brand, however, many people are "horrified" when they hear about this experience without even having to try it.

"If you curse while selling and spit on the bowl of noodles the owner is making in front of you, how can you have the courage to eat?" - reader named Hoan posed the situation.

"Even if the restaurant is as delicious as the one in the palace, I won't bother complaining. You pay to enjoy the food, not to waste money listening to those words" - another person added.

In addition to the swearing, there are also many customers who are dissatisfied with the restaurant's prices. On Google, user Anh Huy Tran left a 1-star review with the message:

"The food is nothing special, not delicious nor bad, but the problem is that the price is too expensive compared to the quality of the food, the tables and chairs, and the space of the restaurant. I ordered 2 bowls of mixed noodles, 1 bowl with 1 slice and 1 bowl with 1 and a half slices, but when I paid, it was 160,000 VND."

Bun scolding Ms. Huyen is still cute

Of course, every restaurant has its lovers and haters. There are also quite a few people who have experienced and praised and defended Ms. Huyen's noodle shop.

"I don't see any swearing at customers! Just yelling at the waiter! After all, it's about serving customers! Anyone who sells food will know!

When you are demanding with customers, you have to be strict with your employees! This restaurant cannot use swear words" - a customer explained to Ms. Hien's restaurant.

User Truc Nguyen left a 5-star review on Google with the comment:

"Actually, people often say she curses, but I think it's just because her voice is a bit loud, and she talks nicely.

I ate dry noodles, in my opinion it was a bit salty but it would be just right if eaten with soup, looking at the bowl of soup, the quality of the food was great, light and sweet, overall it's okay, I went at 2pm, there weren't many customers but we ate slowly, the restaurant was clean and the staff were all enthusiastic.

If you ask me if I will come back, I will.

Some positive reviews of Ms. Huyen's noodle shop on Google, many of whom have the title of Local Guide, have eaten at hundreds of restaurants in Ho Chi Minh City - Screenshot

Reader thie****@gmail.com, a "connoisseur" of restaurants in Ho Chi Minh City, who has commented many times on other culinary articles on Tuoi Tre Online , shared:

"In fact, the owner did not "swear" at the customers. But when a large number of customers arrived, the owner had to loudly call the staff.

Sometimes the owner of the restaurant would say something sarcastic or sarcastic for fun. His face was cold, so those who were used to flattery would find it hard to listen. Those who liked it would learn a lot of funny stories to gossip about elsewhere.

Before the Internet, the shop didn't have many customers. But when social media came along, people started making up stories about normal things at the shop for fun.

One tells 10, 10 becomes 100, and just like that, it spreads rapidly and becomes a brand of swearing noodles, attracting people to come eat to be cursed and then be disappointed.

Who said that only Hanoi has Bun Chuyen and Pho Chuyen? Ho Chi Minh City residents can still experience this type of business at Ms. Huyen's Bun Nuoc restaurant in Phu Nhuan district.
