The envelope was Dao Minh Duc's personal donation to the flood victims. It was not an ordinary envelope. Duc folded the envelope himself from A4 paper and wrote a short letter on the outside of the envelope.
"Dear uncles, aunts and friends in the flood-affected areas!
After watching the scene where you live on TV, I saw that the damage was very severe. I only have a little money to ask the soldiers to send there. I wish you success in building a new house and overcoming the consequences of the storm!", Duc wrote.
The neat and emotional handwriting of the fourth grader moved the receiving officials at the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.

This information was then shared on the Vietnam Fatherland Front fanpage.
Sharing with Dan Tri reporter, Mr. Dao Thanh Lam - Duc's father - said that the night before, the family watched pictures and clips about the flood area, including a clip about the kindergarten in Lang Nu. After watching, Duc went to bed. Mr. Lam went closer and saw that his son was crying.
"My son asked me what I should do to help the people there. I told him that I would take him to the Vietnam Fatherland Front to send gifts of support. He had savings from awards and scholarships, so he took all that money and put it in an envelope and wrote on the envelope like that," Lam shared.

Last school year, Duc studied at Nguyen Trung Truc Primary School and won a scholarship from the school. He also received a Bronze Prize in the IKMC International Mathematics Competition and an Encouragement Prize in the Vietnamese Language Contest. The words "I only have a little money" that Duc wrote in the letter were these amounts of money.
Ms. Huong Diep - a communications officer of the Vietnam Fatherland Front - shared with Dan Tri reporter that every day many children and students are brought by their parents to donate directly.
Today is the weekend, many students have been registered by their parents to give piggy banks to people in flood-hit areas. They will directly break the piggy banks at the headquarters of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.
In the past few hours, when the Vietnam Fatherland Front announced the statement, social media users passed around screenshots of the statement with amounts of only 10,000-20,000 VND. There were even very small amounts transferred like 28,943 VND. The reason was that the sender had transferred all the money they had in their bank account.

Many of them are students. When transferring money, they wrote messages full of sharing: "I am a student and don't have much", "This is my heart, I hope everyone can overcome it"...
