(Bqp.vn) - On the morning of May 22, in Hanoi, authorized by the Head of the Ministry of National Defense, Head of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, Colonel Tran Quang Thanh, Deputy Director of the Policy Department (General Department of Politics) received a delegation of people with meritorious services to the revolution in Tra Vinh province, on the occasion of the delegation's visit to Hanoi and the Ministry of National Defense.

Tra Vinh is a province in the Mekong Delta, a revolutionary base area, with an important strategic position in terms of economy, national defense and security. Promoting the tradition of the revolutionary homeland, over the years, the Party Committee, government and people of Tra Vinh province have always been proactive in overcoming difficulties, being dynamic, creative, striving and achieving important achievements. The whole province is currently managing over 65,000 records of people with revolutionary contributions; including nearly 20,000 martyrs, nearly 10,000 wounded and sick soldiers, more than 3,000 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers (currently 68 mothers are still alive). Up to now, the province has basically solved the housing problem for seriously wounded soldiers and Vietnamese Heroic Mothers.

At the meeting, Colonel Tran Quang Thanh presented gifts from the Ministry of National Defense to the delegates and warmly greeted and wished them good health. Colonel Tran Quang Thanh expressed his deep gratitude for the great sacrifices and contributions of war invalids, sick soldiers, martyrs' families, and people with meritorious services to the revolution in Tra Vinh province, and informed the delegates about some outstanding results in military, defense, and policy work. Colonel Tran Quang Thanh said that in recent years, the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense have led and directed functional agencies to actively and proactively coordinate closely with Central Committees, Ministries, and branches and localities to research and propose to the Party and State to promptly promulgate and supplement many documents regulating the regime and policies for people with meritorious services to the revolution and policies for the Army's rear. In resolving post-war policies, the Army has coordinated with Committees, Ministries, branches, and local Party committees and authorities to focus on resolving policies for soldiers participating in the resistance war and performing international duties in a strict, thoughtful, and meaningful manner; and implementing the project to search for and collect martyrs' remains with a high sense of responsibility.

The entire army has organized many "Repaying gratitude" activities with profound social and humanistic significance such as meeting and praising people with meritorious services to the revolution and relatives of exemplary martyrs; visiting and presenting gifts to policy beneficiaries and people with meritorious services to the revolution; giving warm clothes to wounded and seriously ill soldiers; presenting gifts and silk shirts to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers; building and presenting gratitude houses, giving savings books, supporting capital, seeds, and production tools; examining, consulting, and providing free medicine to policy beneficiaries and people with meritorious services to the revolution; repairing and embellishing works honoring martyrs; supporting and presenting ambulances and medical equipment to nursing centers for wounded soldiers with hundreds of billions of VND.
