On the afternoon of March 4, Minister of Transport Nguyen Van Thang and a delegation from the Ministry of Transport visited and worked at the Hai Van Tunnel Management and Operation Center and the Deo Ca Practical Training Center in Da Nang.
Minister Nguyen Van Thang hopes that Deo Ca Group will have stronger breakthroughs in the coming time.
Reporting to the Minister, Mr. Le Quynh Mai, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Deo Ca Group, said that Hai Van 1 tunnel is 6,280m long, started construction in August 2000, and completed in June 2005.
The project is invested by the Ministry of Transport, funded by Japanese ODA, designed and constructed by foreign parties.
Hai Van Tunnel 2 is 6,292m long, construction started in December 2016 and completed in September 2020, with domestic investment capital. The tunnel is invested by Deo Ca Group, which owns the construction technology and operates the tunnel.
Currently, both tunnels are operated by Deo Ca. Deo Ca Transport Infrastructure Investment Joint Stock Company (HHV) has been managing and operating Hai Van Tunnel 1 since June 2005. Hai Van Tunnel Management and Operation Enterprise has a staff of 189 experienced employees, working 24/7, without holidays or Tet.
From June 2005 to present, the tunnel has ensured safety for nearly 45 million vehicles, rescuing nearly 400 accidents inside and outside the tunnel.
Minister Nguyen Van Thang presented gifts to encourage staff of the Hai Van Tunnel Management and Operation Center.
In particular, since the Hai Van 2 tunnel was put into operation, traffic accidents due to bottlenecks have been reduced, and there are no longer prolonged traffic jams. The average speed through the tunnel has been increased from 40km/h to 63km/h.
The average time through the tunnel has been reduced by 40% compared to before, to just over 6 minutes. Visibility in the tunnel and air quality have improved.
Although managing and operating an additional tunnel, the company's personnel structure remains unchanged.
Mr. Nguyen Quang Huy, Deputy General Director of Deo Ca Group, reported to the Minister on the tunnel operation process and the effectiveness of putting Hai Van Tunnel 2 into operation.
Hai Van tunnels 1 and 2 are monitored 24/7 to promptly detect incidents.
At Deo Ca Practical Training Center, HHV representative presented about the activities and training at the company.
Hai Van Tunnel 2 has reduced traffic accidents, eliminated congestion, and reduced operating costs.
According to Minister Nguyen Van Thang, Deo Ca Group has made breakthroughs in construction of transport infrastructure, training of human resources, is present in all three regions, and has many large projects and works recognized by the state and people.
The Minister hopes that Deo Ca will continue to grow together with other transport enterprises, contributing more to the country. At the same time, it will expand its production and business activities to other transport sectors besides roads.
"From the results achieved, along with continuous efforts and creativity, I believe that Deo Ca will have stronger breakthroughs in the coming time. The Ministry of Transport always supports potential businesses that do business honestly," the Minister shared.
