Ministry of Education and Training speaks out about Mr. Vuong Tan Viet "not graduating from cultural supplementary education"

A representative of the Ministry of Education and Training said that the Ministry assigned the Department of Quality Management to synthesize information and advise the leaders of the Ministry of Education and Training on handling information related to the fact that Mr. Vuong Tan Viet (Venerable Thich Chan Quang) was not on the list of people awarded a high school diploma for supplementary cultural studies on June 6, 1989.

However, because the incident originated from the doctoral degree granted by Hanoi Law University to Mr. Vuong Tan Viet, the information will mainly be collected by the Department of Higher Education.

Currently, the Department of Quality Management is in the process of receiving information. After that, there will be a report to the leaders of the Ministry of Education and Training.

As reported by Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training has just sent a document to the Government Committee for Religious Affairs and the Ministry of Home Affairs to verify the high school diploma of Mr. Vuong Tan Viet.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, on July 30, the department had a working session with the inspection team of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs and the Ministry of Home Affairs to verify the educational background of Mr. Vuong Tan Viet.

During the working session, the Department of Education and Training coordinated with the inspection team to review all records including the list of candidates who graduated from supplementary high school and the list of names and scores of all candidates who took the exam on June 6, 1989.

At the end of the inspection process, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City confirmed the results of the review of the high school graduation exam records of Mr. Vuong Tan Viet, born in 1959, as follows:

Not on the list of candidates and the score sheet in the 1989 high school cultural supplementary graduation exam of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City.

Not on the list of high school diploma certificates awarded on June 6, 1989 by the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City.

Previously, the Ministry of Education and Training sent an urgent dispatch signed by Director of the Department of Higher Education Nguyen Thu Thuy to Hanoi Law University requesting a report on the enrollment and training process for graduate student Vuong Tan Viet.

The official dispatch of the Ministry of Education and Training clearly stated that there is currently much conflicting information about the enrollment, training and granting of a doctoral degree to Mr. Vuong Tan Viet at Hanoi Law University. In order to have complete information, the Ministry of Education and Training requested Hanoi Law University to urgently report specifically on the enrollment and training process for the doctorate (including the submission of documents for review, thesis defense, etc.) and provide evidence for Mr. Vuong Tan Viet's profile.
