(NLDO) - Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thu Thuy, Director of the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Training, said that the Ministry of Education and Training will eliminate early admission and have many more changes in the 2025 university entrance exam.
On the afternoon of February 16, speaking with a reporter from Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thu Thuy, Director of the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Training, said that the Ministry of Education and Training officially "finalized" new points in the Circular amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Regulations on university and college admissions in the field of Preschool Education. Accordingly, the Ministry of Education and Training decided to completely eliminate early admission (only direct admission according to regulations) from the 2025 admission season.

Another important change in the 2025 admission season is that if candidates use high school academic results (report cards) for admission, they must use the results of the entire 12th grade year instead of using scores from 3 to 5 semesters as before.
Explaining this decision, a representative of the Ministry of Education and Training said that the important reason is to ensure that students do not neglect their studies in grade 12, especially in the second semester. They still have to complete their studies well to get a good overall score before taking the high school graduation exam. This regulation will positively contribute to and influence students' studies in high school.
Another new point that will also be officially applied is that training institutions must convert equivalent admission scores between admission methods and admission combinations.
Schools can convert the results of foreign language certificates (according to the list of High School Graduation Exam Regulations) into foreign language scores for admission consideration.
In addition, each candidate's priority bonus points do not exceed 10% of the maximum score (this bonus point is after adding regional priority points and subject priority points), and at the same time, the candidate's total admission score does not exceed the maximum score.
In the new regulations, the Ministry of Education and Training also removed the requirement that each major/training program only have a maximum of 4 admission combinations.
Also according to the Regulations on university and college admissions for Early Childhood Education, which are about to be issued, from 2026, common subjects between admission groups will account for at least 50% of the admission score.
