Binh Thuan lights more than 9,000 candles to pay tribute to heroic martyrs

On the night of July 26, Binh Thuan Province's Martyrs' Cemetery - where more than 9,000 heroic martyrs rest - became warm and sparkling with fragrant incense sticks and candles lit with all the warm love of the province's officials, people and young generation.

The candle lighting ceremony to pay tribute to heroic martyrs was organized by Binh Thuan Provincial Youth Union in coordination with the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs on the occasion of the 76th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2023). Attending were comrade Nguyen Hoai Anh, Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Vo Thanh Binh - Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department; Nguyen Thi Thuan Bich - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, Nguyen Minh - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and representatives of departments, branches... and more than 500 members of the Veterans Association, union members and youth in the province.

In the solemn atmosphere, the leaders and people of the province were moved to light incense sticks. More than 9,000 candles were lit simultaneously. The space of the martyrs cemetery in Binh Thuan province was lit up in the shimmering light of the candles. The light from the candles warmed the heroes, the outstanding sons of the country who had ended their lives at the most beautiful stage.

Speaking at the ceremony, comrade Truong Minh Quang, Secretary of Binh Thuan Provincial Youth Union, emphasized: To achieve today's achievements, millions of outstanding children of the nation have devoted their youth and their lives to the country. Hundreds of thousands of martyrs have forever gone into the bosom of the motherland, hundreds of thousands of wounded soldiers have left a part of their body on the battlefield, millions of martyrs' relatives, grandparents, parents, husbands, wives and children have never been able to see their most beloved ones again. But it is that sacrifice that has made the homeland and the country glorious, has nurtured green shoots, green buds for peace and aspirations. The spirit of you will always live forever with the homeland and the country.

"History always has profound educational significance. The noble sacrifices of heroes, war invalids, and martyrs, the silent dedication of heroic Vietnamese mothers have shown the glorious history of the Vietnamese people in general and the heroic revolutionary history of Binh Thuan province in particular. Each of these noble sacrifices has left the younger generation with valuable lessons about love for the homeland and country, about the spirit of loyalty and filial piety, about the noble revolutionary ideal. Each of the nearly 9,000 martyrs resting at the Binh Thuan Martyrs' Cemetery is a shining example for the younger generation to reflect on, practice and strive for. The candles and incense sticks offered by the youth to you today are a promise of determination from the youth of Binh Thuan to continue promoting the revolutionary tradition of the homeland; vowing to constantly work, practice and devote themselves to the development of the homeland and the country. The youth of Binh Thuan will never forget and forever be grateful to the heroic martyrs" Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union Binh Thuan shared.

Gratitude Night - a night of candles and flowers, sending today's love to those who passed away yesterday. This is an activity expressing the morality of "When drinking water, remember its source" and the deep gratitude of the young generation of Binh Thuan for the great contributions of the heroic martyrs who sacrificed their youth and blood for national independence. The program has further imbued the young generation with the value of independence and freedom. From there, the youth union members have more motivation to continue to strive to study, work, train themselves, and take the lead in all community activities to be worthy of the contributions of the previous generation.

On this occasion, the Organizing Committee presented 20 gifts, each worth VND 2,000,000 to 20 policy families in Hong Liem and Hong Son communes, Ham Thuan Bac district; awarded 15 scholarships to students in difficult circumstances in the district, with a total scholarship value of nearly VND 20,000,000.
