Provincial Party Secretary Ton Ngoc Hanh inspects the Ho Chi Minh City - Thu Dau Mot

On the afternoon of February 10, Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Ton Ngoc Hanh inspected the Ho Chi Minh City - Thu Dau Mot - Chon Thanh expressway project and resettlement areas serving expressway projects, social housing projects in Chon Thanh town. Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Van Mi, representatives of departments, branches and sectors of the province and Chon Thanh town joined the delegation.

Construction of the highway will begin in March.

Inspecting the points on the Ho Chi Minh City - Thu Dau Mot - Chon Thanh expressway section in Binh Phuoc province, Provincial Party Secretary Ton Ngoc Hanh assessed: In the past time, the province has mobilized the entire political system to focus on removing difficulties and speeding up the project implementation progress. The provincial construction investment project management board is completing the construction design documents to implement after the basic design in accordance with regulations. However, there are still some problems related to site clearance.

Emphasizing that the Ho Chi Minh City - Thu Dau Mot - Chon Thanh expressway is one of the eight national key projects on transportation, after completion, it will be combined with the North - South expressway in the west, Gia Nghia (Dak Nong) - Chon Thanh (Binh Phuoc) section, creating traffic axes connecting the Central Highlands and Southeast regions, shortening travel time, transportation costs and ensuring traffic safety, creating momentum for Binh Phuoc to achieve growth targets in the era of development. The Provincial Party Secretary suggested: Chon Thanh town strengthen coordination with departments and branches to participate more strongly because this is the common interest of the province. In the immediate future, strengthen propaganda work to create support from the people to complete the appraisal dossier and implement the project this March.

The Provincial Party Secretary noted: The goal of completing the Ho Chi Minh City - Thu Dau Mot - Chon Thanh expressway remains unchanged, so the entire political system must be involved; the Party Committee must lead, the government must organize implementation, and the people and businesses must participate. If there are any difficulties in the implementation process, they must promptly report to the provincial leaders; the general spirit is to look straight at the problem, where the problem is, who is responsible, so that solutions can be found to ensure timely implementation in the coming time.

The entire Ho Chi Minh City - Thu Dau Mot - Chon Thanh expressway is over 60km long. Of which, the 1.7km section through Ho Chi Minh City is currently reviewing capital allocation, the section through Binh Duong is over 52.1km long. The total investment for the project through Binh Duong is about 17,400 billion VND under the form of public-private partnership (PPP), of which the construction cost alone is more than 8,833 billion VND. The expressway is expected to be built in 36 months.

The Ho Chi Minh City - Thu Dau Mot - Chon Thanh expressway construction project, 6.6km long, through Binh Phuoc, is invested by the Binh Phuoc Provincial Investment and Construction Management Board. In phase 1, the project will clear an 80m wide area, invest in 4 full expressway lanes (with continuous emergency lanes), parallel roads on both sides with a width of 11m and sidewalks of 6m. The design speed is 100km/h. The project is invested in the form of public investment with a total capital of 1,474 billion VND. Of which, the central capital is 1,000 billion VND and the local capital is 474 billion VND. The project implementation period is from 2024-2026.

Implement resettlement projects in parallel with highway projects

Immediately after inspecting the Ho Chi Minh City - Thu Dau Mot - Chon Thanh expressway section in Binh Phuoc province, Provincial Party Secretary Ton Ngoc Hanh and members of the delegation also inspected the social housing area and Thanh Tam resettlement area to serve the project. This is the place expected to be used to arrange accommodation for people affected by the Ho Chi Minh City - Thu Dau Mot - Chon Thanh expressway and the Gia Nghia - Chon Thanh expressway project.

Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Ton Ngoc Hanh proposed to soon deploy the Thanh Tam resettlement area in Thanh Tam ward, Chon Thanh town to create consensus among the people.

Thanh Tam resettlement area in Thanh Tam ward, Chon Thanh town is planned with an area of 36.4 hectares. Of which, the resettlement area is about 6.4 hectares. It is expected that the resettlement area will support 361 affected plots of land, of which 85 are resettlement lots.

After listening to reports on the progress of departments, branches and localities, Provincial Party Secretary Ton Ngoc Hanh requested Chon Thanh town, the Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board and relevant departments and branches to promptly clear the land and complete the procedural documents to implement the project in parallel with the Ho Chi Minh City - Thu Dau Mot - Chon Thanh expressway project to create consensus among the people.

Provincial Party Secretary Ton Ngoc Hanh noted that time is urgent, while the workload is huge, so we have to race against time. This requires greater efforts and determination from local Party committees, authorities and related sectors, especially propaganda, mobilization and consensus building for relocated people to implement the project to ensure the set schedule.
