TPO - The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction has just issued an official dispatch directing the Technical Infrastructure Management Center to request the double-decker bus operator not to pick up and drop off passengers at the bus stop in front of 92-96 Nguyen Hue Street (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City). Immediately after the dispatch, a representative of the double-decker bus company spoke with Tien Phong Newspaper reporters about the difficulties in implementing the project.
According to Mr. Nguyen Khoa Luan, Director of Anh Viet Company (Hop on - Hop off Vietnam), the unit is operating double-decker buses in Ho Chi Minh City, the unit has been operating double-decker buses in the center of Ho Chi Minh City for many years. When building the double-decker bus project, the project was also approved in principle by the Ministry of Transport and the City People's Committee, the company and the functional units went to survey to grant the license.

“For many years, the pick-up and drop-off point on Nguyen Hue Street has been used stably by us. This is a beautiful location, convenient for people and tourists to visit the Ho Chi Minh Monument Park, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee building or experience Nguyen Hue Walking Street... In addition, during the operation period, the company also regularly invests in maintaining and repairing the bus stop at this location. This maintenance activity has also received approval from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction,” Mr. Luan added.

Therefore, according to Mr. Luan, in the near future, double-decker buses will not be allowed to pick up and drop off passengers in this area, which will cause difficulties for businesses. To solve this problem, in the immediate future, Anh Viet Company suggests that if these pick-up points are suspended, the industries need to propose a plan to find a more suitable alternative pick-up point to avoid interruptions in the operations of double-decker bus services.
Mr. Luan added: “I think this pick-up point is still the most suitable because it is convenient for tourists. Currently, our bus route is still operating with an average of 30 minutes/trip to take tourists to this point. Most tourists are satisfied with the service, so I think there is no need to change the pick-up and drop-off point in this area. Therefore, we will make a recommendation to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, asking the Department of Construction to withdraw the above document.”
