Dr. Nguyen Minh Thuan speaks at the 60th anniversary of the establishment of Military Hospital 121
Impressive information
In his speech celebrating the 60th anniversary, distinguished physician, colonel, MD.CK2 Nguyen Minh Thuan, Director of Military Hospital 121, said that on March 15, 1964, the Military Region-level Military Hospital (codename Z12, predecessor of Military Hospital 121) was established from the merger of Infirmary 320, C50 and surgical teams F42, F48 stationed in Ca Mau with very modest equipment and personnel. Established at a time when the resistance war for national salvation was entering its fiercest period, the departments had to be stationed 15 to 20 km apart and were almost completely independent in combat.
By the end of 1966, Z12 changed its code name to V.121 along with the V.121A and V.121B Sub-Institutes. Only 2 years after its establishment, V.121 had treated more than 2,820 wounded and sick soldiers (TB, BB). During the 1968 Tet Offensive, V.121 treated more than 1,200 TB and BB. After Tet, the battlefield became increasingly fierce, but the officers and soldiers of V.121 always promoted the highest spirit of "all for the wounded", "all for victory". To prepare for the 1975 spring uprising campaign, the Military Medical Department of Military Region 9 organized 20 forward service units, of which V.121 had 9 units and treated more than 2,500 TB and BB; At the same time, he participated in taking over the enemy's Phan Thanh Gian Military Hospital in Can Tho, which is where the 121 Military Hospital is located today.
According to Dr. Nguyen Minh Thuan, in the 10 years (1979 - 1989) of performing international duties to help Cambodia escape genocide, Military Hospital 121 overcame many difficulties to excellently complete all assigned tasks. With its achievements in the resistance war for national liberation, 10 years of helping the country and the cause of building and defending the Fatherland, Military Hospital 121 was twice honored as a Hero of the People's Armed Forces (in 1976, 1998) and received 81 medals and many other noble awards. Treatment Team 1 was awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces. Treatment Team 3 received the Third Class Medal of Military Exploit. Military Hospital 121 had 6 Heroes of the People's Armed Forces, 133 individuals awarded medals, 2 general officers, 3 people's doctors, 54 excellent doctors...
