On December 12, at the Ministry of National Defense Hall, the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army held a ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of its Traditional Day (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024) and receive the First Class Independence Medal.

Delivering a speech at the ceremony, Senior Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet said that during the 80-year glorious history, the Army has nurtured, screened and forged generations of Army officers in general and political officers in particular who are truly exemplary in political qualities, intelligence and practical organizational capacity, exemplary in ethics and lifestyle, and trusted and admired by their comrades and the people.
On behalf of the Party and State leaders, awarding the First Class Independence Medal to the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army and speaking at the ceremony, General Secretary To Lam acknowledged and highly appreciated the role and contributions of the system of political agencies, the team of political cadres, political commissars, and political officers, especially the role of the General Department of Politics in the process of building, fighting, winning and growing of the Army over the past 80 years.
General Secretary To Lam requested the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, political agencies and the entire army's political cadres to continuously promote the fine traditions of the nation, the heroic Vietnam People's Army and the glorious traditions of the General Department in the coming time, strengthen solidarity, unity, proactively implement the Resolution of the 8th Central Committee, Session XIII on "Strategy for protecting the Fatherland in the new situation", Vietnam's national defense strategy, Vietnam's military strategy, strategy for protecting the Fatherland in cyberspace, strategy for protecting the national border. Proactively advise the Politburo, the Secretariat, and directly the Central Military Commission to concretize the resolutions, directives, conclusions, regulations of the Party, and the State's policies and laws on military defense and protecting the Fatherland.
Along with that, the General Secretary requested the General Department of Politics to focus on advising, directing, and successfully organizing Party Congresses at all levels for the 2025-2030 term in the Army, Party Congresses at all levels towards the 14th National Party Congress of the Party. Careful preparation for the successful organization of Party Congresses at all levels for the 2025-2030 term is a key political task that not only contributes significantly to the success of the 14th National Party Congress but also is an opportunity to perfect and enhance the leadership capacity and combat strength of Party committees and organizations at all levels to meet the requirements and tasks of building the Army and defending the Fatherland in the new situation. The Party Committee of the Army must be exemplary in implementing the Party's policies on Party building and rectification and the political system, on promoting the study and following of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality, and lifestyle, on continuing to innovate and reorganize the political system apparatus to be streamlined, effective, and efficient.
The General Secretary also requested the General Department of Politics to focus on improving the quality of political and ideological education in the entire army, especially innovating and improving the quality of research and study of Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh's thought, the Party's viewpoints and guidelines, the State's policies and laws, educating the tradition of patriotism, the fine traditions of the Party, the nation, the army and the unit. From there, it will contribute to building cadres and soldiers in the entire army to always have a strong political stance, be absolutely loyal to the Fatherland, the Party, the State and the people, clearly identify partners, targets, plots and tricks of sabotage, prevent and combat "self-evolution" and "self-transformation" within the organization, and be exemplary in protecting the Party's ideological foundation. Actively coordinate with central and local departments, ministries, branches, organizations in building a national defense foundation, a national defense posture associated with people's security, a people's security posture and a solid "people's hearts posture"...
