Former midfielder Didi Hamann called on Bayern to fire him instead of letting coach Thomas Tuchel lead until the end of the season as planned.
"Bayern's board must ask themselves whether they should enter the final stages of the Bundesliga and Champions League with Tuchel in the next few weeks," Hamann told Sky90 on April 1. "You have to make the best decision for the club."
According to Hamann, Arsenal, Bayern's opponents in the Champions League quarter-finals, lack experience playing in European competitions. He believes Bayern have a good chance of reaching the semi-finals. However, the former Bayern Liverpool midfielder is not sure Tuchel is the best choice tactically, and could cause the team to miss this opportunity.

Hamann also suggested that Bayern's leadership consider appointing Jose Mourinho, a coach who has won two Champions Leagues, two UEFA Cups/Europa Leagues and a Conference League. He cited Mourinho's two advantages as excellent expertise and being loved by many Chelsea players.
Bild commentator Alfred Draxler also advised Bayern to sack Tuchel immediately. He said that Tuchel and Bayern players were showing "terrible" body language, making viewers feel that the coach was no longer able to control his work and the dressing room.
"Bayern have nothing to lose. That's why you can risk everything again and bring another coach in," Draxler said. "They still have a trophy to play for, the Champions League. But with the form and attitude they had against Dortmund, they can lose both games against Arsenal. If that's what they want, then Bayern can continue."
On March 30, Bayern lost 0-2 at home to Dortmund. Tuchel's team is currently second in the Bundesliga with 60 points after 27 rounds, 13 points behind leaders Leverkusen. Leverkusen only needs to win three more matches to end Bayern's 11-year Bundesliga dominance.
After the defeat, Tuchel made a surrendering statement: "After today's match, we don't need to count points anymore. Congratulations to Leverkusen."
In February, after a series of unstable matches since the beginning of the season, Tuchel announced that he would leave Bayern at the end of the season. Bayern's leadership also agreed to this proposal.
Tuchel joined the Allianz Arena in March 2023 after Bayern unexpectedly sacked Julian Nagelsmann. But he soon disappointed, being knocked out of the Champions League quarter-finals by Man City and the German Cup by Freiburg, before successfully defending the Bundesliga thanks to Dortmund's stumble in the final round. This season, Bayern spent 110 million to buy striker Harry Kane, but his performance even went down.
Before leading Bayern, Tuchel won the German Cup with Dortmund, two Ligue 1s, the French Cup, two League Cups, two French Super Cups, reached the 2020 Champions League final with PSG, the 2021 Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup with Chelsea. He became the best coach of 2021 in the FIFA and IFFHS votes.
