On March 6, the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that on March 5, there will be severe heat in many central provinces. The highest temperature in the central region reached 39.9 degrees Celsius in Tuong Duong (Nghe An). In addition, high temperatures above 39 degrees were also recorded in Ha Tinh City (Ha Tinh) at 39.4 degrees Celsius and Huong Khe (Ha Tinh) at 39.1 degrees Celsius.

Heat and severe heat also occur widely from Thanh Hoa to Thua Thien-Hue with the highest temperature commonly 36 - 38 degrees Celsius. The lowest relative humidity is 40 - 50%.
It is forecasted that on March 6, the area from Quang Binh to Quang Ngai will have hot weather with the highest temperature commonly ranging from 35 - 37 degrees Celsius, the lowest relative humidity from 45 - 50%. From March 7, the hot weather will gradually ease.
Due to the effects of hot weather combined with low humidity in the air, there is a risk of explosions and fires in residential areas due to increased demand for electricity and the risk of forest fires.
In addition, heat can also cause dehydration, exhaustion, and heat stroke in the human body when exposed to high temperatures for a long time.
Quick view at 12:00 on March 6: The North welcomes cold air, the Central region is hot
According to meteorological experts, the phenomenon of widespread and severe heat at this time in the Central region is unusual and rare because the dry season in this region usually starts from May to June. Thus, this year the heat came about 2 months earlier than the average of many years. The current heat is due to the impact of the El Nino phenomenon.
In 2023, also in Tuong Duong (Nghe An), a heat wave of 44.2 degrees Celsius was recorded, the highest in the history of observation in Vietnam.
However, according to experts, because El Nino is forecast to weaken in May and is likely to transition to the cold phase of La Nina in June; meanwhile, the peak of heat in the Central region usually lasts from June to August, so it is likely that this year the heat in the Central region will be less severe than in 2023.
