On April 11, discussing the 10th grade target for the 2025-2026 school year, Mr. Ho Tan Minh, Chief of Office of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, said that the expected number of 9th grade students completing junior high school is 88,210.

In order to create conditions for students to study at public high schools and based on the facilities of the schools and the transfer rate from junior high school to public high school, this year's enrollment target has increased compared to the previous school year.

Specifically, the total enrollment target for grade 10 of 115 public high schools is 70,070 students, reaching 79% of the expected number of students graduating from junior high school (last school year was 65%). Of which, there are 110 high schools under the Department of Education and Training with 68,830 students, 5 high schools under universities with 1,240 students.

At the same time, the Chief of Office of the Department of Education and Training informed that the department will submit to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee a policy to adjust the enrollment quota for grade 10 in the 2025-2026 school year compared to the quota in the project of Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted approved by Ho Chi Minh City in July 2024 when separating Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted into 2 schools: Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted and Tran Dai Nghia Middle School - High School.

In addition, the department also proposed to adjust and approve the enrollment quota of Nguyen Thi Dinh High School for Gifted Sports and two new high schools in Binh Tan district.

According to Mr. Minh, this year's 10th grade enrollment target is decided based on the following criteria: Facilities (especially cultural classrooms, schools that have been repaired, newly built, expanded, or renovated); Classroom utilization coefficient (classrooms/classrooms); Number of 12th grade students graduating in the 2024-2025 school year; Demand from the school's proposal to increase/decrease the total number of classes.
