On December 18, according to Thanh Chuong District Police (Nghe An), the unit coordinated with functional forces to destroy a ring of illegal firecrackers trading and storage, arresting 4 subjects and 86.5 kg of firecrackers.
Authorities seized a large quantity of fireworks.
The arrested subjects include Nguyen Canh Xa (born in 1979), Dinh Chi Tuyen (born in 1987), Bui Van Thuyet (born in 1985) and Bui Van Anh (born in 1987), all residing in Thanh Yen commune, Thanh Chuong district.
At the police station, the subjects confessed that the above fireworks were ordered via social networks, then received the goods, brought them home to hide, and divided them into small pieces to sell for profit. When someone placed an order, this group packaged and sent the camouflaged fireworks via delivery services, passenger cars, and trucks to the buyers.
Currently, Thanh Chuong District Police (Nghe An) are continuing to investigate and expand.
Previously, Thanh Hoa City Police had dismantled a firecracker production and trading ring from Hai Duong, Hung Yen and Hai Phong provinces to Thanh Hoa for consumption.
Thanh Hoa City Police coordinated with the functional forces of Hai Duong, Hung Yen provinces and Hai Phong City Police to crack the case, seized 115kg of various types of fireworks and many tools for illegally manufacturing fireworks, and arrested 5 subjects in the fireworks manufacturing and trading ring, including: Nguyen Tung Lam, born in 1998, residing in Le Hong commune, Thanh Mien district, Hai Duong province; Pham Thanh Cong, born in 1980; Le Quang Anh, born in 1983, both residing in Lam Son ward, Hung Yen city, Hung Yen province; Tran Van Manh, born in 1985, residing in Duc Hop commune, Kim Dong district, Hung Yen province and Nguyen Tuan Anh, born in 1989, residing in Tan Vien commune, An Lao district, Hai Phong city.
Based on the violations of the subjects, on December 6, 2024, the Investigation Police Agency of Thanh Hoa City Police issued a Decision to prosecute the case, prosecute 5 subjects, of which 4 subjects were temporarily detained for the act of "Production and trading of prohibited goods" which are firecrackers as prescribed in Clause 2, Article 190 of the Penal Code, including: Pham Thanh Cong, Le Quang Anh, Tran Van Manh and Nguyen Tuan Anh.
