Although the home team won the championship in the tournament with both the "giants" U22 Korea and U22 Uzbekistan, the Chinese press still expressed dissatisfaction.
“China U22 has not made any progress. If the referee was not Chinese, they would have lost to Vietnam U22,” wrote Sohu.
Specifically, the match between U22 Vietnam and U22 China was officiated by referee Dai Yige. The two linesmen were Mr. Wu Mingfeng and Guan Changliang, the table referee was Gu Chunhan, and Mr. Guo Baolong was the referee supervisor. All of the above mentioned people are Chinese.
According to Sohu newspaper, the referees made many controversial decisions and helped U22 China hold U22 Vietnam to a draw.
“In the 45th minute, Kuai Jiwen lost control and stepped on the stomach of a Vietnamese player after the opponent fell down. This action should have been a red card, but it seems that because the referee team was Chinese, they let it go. This caused the U22 Vietnam coach to react and receive a yellow card.
In the 46th minute, a Chinese player committed a foul, causing a Vietnamese player to fall in the penalty area, but the referee did not take any action.
In the 58th minute, U22 China used their elbow to block the ball. There should have been a shot right at the edge of the penalty area but the referee did not blow the whistle,” Sohu cited evidence.
At CFA Team China 2025, U22 China won the championship. Meanwhile, U22 Vietnam got 3 points after 3 matches and ranked third overall.
