On the evening of February 1, in Hanoi, the Central Organizing Committee coordinated with Nhan Dan Newspaper, Communist Magazine, Vietnam Television and the Vietnam Journalists Association to organize the 8th National Press Award Ceremony on Party Building (Golden Hammer and Sickle) - 2023, on the occasion of the 94th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 - February 3, 2024).
The award ceremony was attended by Party and State leaders, former Party and State leaders: Pham Minh Chinh - Politburo member, Prime Minister; Truong Thi Mai - Politburo member, Standing member of the Secretariat, Head of the Central Organization Committee, Head of the Steering Committee for the National Press Award on Party Building; Phan Dinh Trac - Politburo member, Head of the Central Internal Affairs Committee; Nguyen Hoa Binh - Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court; Tran Thanh Man - Politburo member, Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly; Nguyen Xuan Thang - Politburo member, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council; Nguyen Trong Nghia - Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department; Le Hoai Trung - Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central External Relations Department; Vo Thi Anh Xuan - Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice President; Tran Hong Ha - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister...

The Golden Hammer and Sickle Award is an annual award given to outstanding journalistic works on Party building. This year, the Organizing Committee received a total of 2,216 works, an increase of 184 works compared to the previous season.
From 120 works selected by the Preliminary Council, the Final Council reviewed and selected outstanding works to award 6 A prizes, 12 B prizes, 18 C prizes, and 30 Encouragement prizes.
Nghe An Newspaper won the Encouragement Prize with the work: "The role and responsibility of party members in cyberspace", consisting of 5 parts, by authors: Duc Chuyen, Thanh Duy, Thanh Le, Huu Quan.
The Organizing Committee also presented awards to 15 press agencies, journalists' associations, propaganda departments, and Party committees with outstanding achievements in organizing and participating in the award. The Organizing Committee also selected a number of outstanding figures in the award-winning works to commend and reward.
According to the Organizing Committee, the works participating in this year's competition continued to be rich in themes and genres and covered all provinces and cities in the country. Most of the works closely followed hot issues, outstanding events, and key tasks of the political system and the country.
Many works have deeply reflected on current issues of Party building and rectification such as: Fighting against the "fear of responsibility" and building a mechanism to protect cadres who dare to think and dare to do; the work of inspection, supervision and control of power associated with the fight against corruption and negativity; fighting against wrong and distorted views to protect the Party's ideological foundation and protect national sovereignty in cyberspace...
Speaking at the ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed: Through 8 times of organization, the National Press Award on Party building named "Golden Hammer and Sickle" has affirmed its value, attractiveness and influence on the work of Party building, building the political system and building the contingent of cadres; at the same time, affirming the profound political awareness, professional ethics and steadfast revolutionary heart of journalists nationwide, worthy of Uncle Ho's teaching: "Journalists are also revolutionary soldiers".
The works participating in the Award closely followed the guidelines and viewpoints on Party building work, vividly reflecting political activities in the Party; especially urgent emerging issues such as building culture and ethics in the Party, fighting against the "fear of responsibility disease", while encouraging and protecting dynamic, creative cadres who dare to think, dare to do, dare to take responsibility for the common good; fighting against corruption and negativity; refuting wrong and distorted viewpoints, protecting the Party's ideological foundation... In addition, the works also proposed solutions to remove difficulties and obstacles, encouraging the spirit, arousing the aspiration for rapid and sustainable national development.
The 72 excellent works selected by the Organizing Committee for awards today are excellent representatives of 2,216 works that converge, crystallize the passion, intelligence, courage and demonstrate the exploration, creative work with sharp political thinking, professional conscience and social responsibility, with the noble love for the homeland and country of journalists.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized: Our country enters 2024, one of the decisive years in successfully implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, with new opportunities and new fortunes, but also facing many new difficulties and challenges.
In such a context, the proud 94-year history of our Party shows that we must pay special attention to and further promote the work of comprehensive Party building and rectification in terms of politics, ideology, ethics, organization and cadres. In particular, we must thoroughly grasp, deepen and seriously implement the important guidelines of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in the article "Proud and confident under the glorious flag of the Party, determined to build an increasingly rich, civilized, cultured and heroic Vietnam" on the occasion of the 94th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam. This is not only the task of Party committees and organizations, but also requires the active and drastic participation of the entire political system, of all classes of people and press and propaganda agencies.
With the motto of "using beauty to eliminate ugliness" and "using positivity to push back negativity", the Prime Minister requested Party committees and organizations at all levels to focus on leadership, direction, and creating conditions for press agencies and reporters to focus on propagating and reflecting the Party's theoretical values and innovative viewpoints and determination to build a clean and strong Party.
Further increase the number of articles about advanced models, good people, good deeds, exemplary individuals; new models, good and creative ways of doing things; fight to prevent and repel degradation in political ideology, ethics, lifestyle, manifestations of "self-evolution" and "self-transformation"; prevent and combat corruption, negativity, waste; fight and refute distorted arguments and wrong views of hostile forces and reactionary organizations; firmly protect the Party's ideological foundation; further improve the leadership capacity and fighting strength of Party organizations and Party members.
To better fulfill its tasks in the coming time, the Prime Minister expressed his hope and belief that the Golden Hammer and Sickle Award will further promote the achieved results, continue to seek innovation and creativity to increasingly spread the strong vitality and positive influence of the Award, contributing to building and rectifying the Party, building the political system and building a clean and strong cadre team; actively and effectively contributing to the cause of building and defending the socialist Fatherland of Vietnam; for the goal of a rich people, a strong country, democracy, fairness and civilization.
At the ceremony, the Steering Committee launched the 9th National Press Award on Party Building (Golden Hammer and Sickle Award) - 2024.
