This afternoon, January 7, Vice Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam inspected the site and discussed the handover plan for items under the project "Developing tourism infrastructure to support growth in the Greater Mekong Sub-region - Phase 2" (referred to as the Project) in Gio Linh district.

The project will be implemented from 2018 to June 2024, with 4 construction items, including 2 community beaches, Trung Giang and Gio Hai, Cua Viet beach and Cua Viet tourist port. The project is implemented with loans from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and counterpart funds, with a total investment of 11.434 million USD, equivalent to 258.111 billion VND. The Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board is the unit authorized by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to manage the project.

The completed project meets the set objectives of increasing the tourism competitiveness of secondary tourist destinations in particular and of the Vietnamese tourism industry in general, through improving infrastructure, tourism service environment, promoting the activities of the private economic sector. At the same time, it contributes significantly to supporting the tourism industry of localities to exploit their strengths with specific tourism products to promote and attract international tourists.
Investment in transportation, civil and infrastructure systems, and environmental sanitation will contribute to improving the quality of life of people in the project area.
At the same time, increase employment through developing tourist destinations, connecting production areas to raw material areas, developing coastal trade, enhancing investment efficiency of tourism projects and other agricultural and aquatic development projects...

According to Decision No. 54/QD-UBND approving project adjustment dated January 9, 2020, attached with the Feasibility Study Report, the specific project management and exploitation plan: Trung Giang, Gio Hai, and Cua Viet community beaches are handed over to Gio Linh District People's Committee for management. Cua Viet Tourist Port is handed over to Con Co Island District People's Committee for management.
Representatives of Gio Linh District People's Committee, Con Co Island District People's Committee, Department of Finance, relevant communes and towns discussed issues related to the handover of projects to local management, effective operation and exploitation plans, and mechanisms for people to participate in bidding.
Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam requested that localities commit to mobilizing households that have received money to complete the demolition of temporary structures and mobilize machinery and equipment to complete the site before Tet. Direct forces to protect the structures, prevent theft and vandalism, and strictly handle acts of intentional destruction of public property.
Regarding the issue of handing over, receiving and putting the works into use, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the units to complete the procedures and promptly hand over the beaches to Gio Linh district and the tourist port to Con Co island district. Requesting that in mid-February 2025, the two districts urgently submit to the Provincial People's Committee a bidding plan and effectively exploit the works under the Project to soon deploy the next contents, promptly stabilizing the production and business situation of the people.
