The fires have been basically extinguished but left behind serious consequences. At the same time, the risk of forest fires in the coming time is still very high, requiring more drastic preventive measures.

Forest fire occurred in Huyen Son commune (Luc Nam). |
In Luc Nam district, on April 12, a fire occurred in Giap Son village, Cam Ly commune, with a burned area of about 10.2 hectares of planted forest; in Huyen Son commune, a fire occurred in Chua village, with a burned area of about 5.1 hectares of natural forest managed by households.
It is known that at the time of the forest fire, the weather was windy, combined with a thick layer of ground cover, making firefighting difficult. On April 13, a fire broke out in a special-use forest in An Lac commune managed by the Tay Yen Tu Conservation Management Board, but was successfully contained by the coordination of authorities and local people.
Mr. Ha Minh Quy, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, said that immediately after receiving information about the fires, the Department directed the forest rangers to coordinate with local authorities and functional agencies to mobilize forces and means to prevent, control and extinguish the fires, to prevent damage to people and vehicles involved in fire fighting, and to minimize the damage caused.
Currently, the forest rangers are actively coordinating with functional agencies and local authorities to urgently investigate and clarify the cause and the person who caused the fire to handle it according to the provisions of law.
Assessing that the forest fire situation is still complicated, the Department of Agriculture and Environment requests the People's Committees of districts, towns and cities to arrange forces to guard and be on duty to prevent fires during the day, ensuring compliance with the prescribed forest fire forecast level; clearly assigning specific duties to each person (with a forest fire duty assignment book).
Be proactive and ready to mobilize forces and means to prevent and fight forest fires according to the "4 on-site" principle, ensuring the fastest and most timely control of forest fires, preventing fires from spreading over large areas. Temporarily suspend activities of treating vegetation with fire during the peak period of forest fires. Resolutely handle forest owners who do not comply with legal regulations on the use of fire when burning fields, fields, and vegetation to prepare land for forest planting.
At the same time, direct the authorities to regularly inspect and closely monitor the area of natural forest that has been burned recently, request to keep the scene intact, absolutely not to cause damage to the forest, and not to take advantage of economic forest planting to carry out zoning and promote natural regeneration.
Forest owners actively patrol and inspect forests; strictly maintain fire prevention and fighting duty, ensure the time according to the prescribed forest fire forecast level; promptly detect fire points, extinguish forest fires as soon as they occur and send guards on site to handle re-fires. Do not let forest fires occur but are not promptly detected and reported according to regulations.
