Thus, according to Mr. Nguyen Dai Luong, Viet Yen district became a town about 1 year earlier than planned. After its establishment, Viet Yen town had 17 commune-level administrative units (including 9 wards and 8 communes).
When Viet Yen district becomes a town, Bac Giang province will have 1 city, 1 town and 8 districts. Viet Yen district is located at the southwestern gateway of Bac Giang province, with major routes passing through such as Hanoi - Bac Giang - Lang Son expressway, National Highway 17, National Highway 37, and the North-South railway.
In recent times, Bac Giang province and Viet Yen district have focused resources on investing in socio-economic development in the direction of industrial and service development.
With the aspiration to develop and soon turn Viet Yen district into a town, the District Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee have focused on leading and directing all levels and sectors, mobilizing the entire political system to organize and implement the resolution in all fields.
Talking to VietNamNet reporter, Mr. Nguyen Dai Luong, Chairman of Viet Yen District People's Committee said that to achieve that result, the entire political system and the people unanimously built Viet Yen into a town earlier than the set target.
"After half of the 2020-2023 term, despite facing many difficulties and challenges, especially the Covid-19 pandemic affecting all aspects of socio-economic life, with the efforts of the entire political system, the consensus and support of the people and the business community, Viet Yen district has implemented synchronous solutions, created breakthroughs, and achieved comprehensive results in all areas of per capita income, production value of economic sectors... each year is higher than the previous year, the growth rate of production value of Viet Yen is always the leading unit in the whole province", said Mr. Luong.
According to Mr. Luong, the state budget revenue in the area exceeded the estimate by 39% (revenue minus land exceeded the estimate by 38%); the district's self-balancing rate of revenue and expenditure reached 110%.
The average income per capita in 2023 of Viet Yen district will reach 69.7 million VND/person/year, 1.2 times higher than the average of the whole province (the average of the whole Bac Giang province is 58.1 million VND/person/year).
The 2024 socio-economic development plan in Viet Yen district was approved by the 17th session of the District People's Council, with the total production value of economic sectors at current prices being 545,463 billion VND.
"To achieve that result, we have pioneered in strongly improving the investment and business environment, creating favorable conditions to exploit non-budgetary resources, in addition to focusing on directing drastic and synchronous measures to increase budget revenue; strengthening measures to nurture and develop revenue sources; and paying attention to creating investment capital from land use fees right in the first year of the term," Mr. Luong emphasized.
According to Mr. Luong, in order for Viet Yen to develop green, clean, beautiful, and smart after becoming a town... the district has launched a movement to renew, renovate, and expand 224 km of rural roads; of which 165 km will be in 2022 according to the Project "Support for expanding, renovating, and upgrading village roads and alleys in the district".
"Currently, the traffic infrastructure in the district is gradually synchronized; the rate of hardening district and commune roads reaches 100%, alleys reach over 96%; there are 395.8km of main intra-field roads; investing in lighting an additional 261.6km of roads; the rate of main roads with lighting reaches 97.2% (exceeding 7.2% of the town criteria) and the rate of alleys with lighting reaches 83% (exceeding 8% of the town criteria)," said Mr. Luong.
