According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on the day and night of August 2, the North will have showers and thunderstorms, especially in the Northwest and Viet Bac regions, there will be moderate rain and thunderstorms; locally there will be heavy to very heavy rain with rainfall from 10-40mm, locally over 80mm, in thunderstorms there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.

Experts warn that localized heavy rains are likely to cause flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes and flooding in low-lying areas.

Heavy rain in a short period of time also causes flooding in urban areas. Natural disaster risk due to tornadoes, lightning, and hail is level 1.

According to hydrometeorological experts, flash floods and landslides occurred in a number of districts and cities such as: Muong Te, Nam Nhun, Sin Ho, Tam Duong, Tan Uyen (Lai Chau); Dien Bien, Dien Bien Dong, Dien Bien Phu, Muong Ang, Muong Cha, Muong Nhe, Nam Po, Tua Chua, Tuan Giao (Dien Bien); Bac Yen, Moc Chau, Muong La, Quynh Nhai, Song Ma, Sop Cop, Thuan Chau, Van Ho (Son La); Lao Cai city, Van Ban (Lao Cai); Mu Cang Chai, Tram Tau, Tran Yen, Van Chan, Van Yen (Yen Bai); Bac Me, Bac Quang, Yen Minh (Ha Giang); Chiem Hoa, Ham Yen, Son Duong (Tuyen Quang); Ba Be, Bach Thong, Cho Moi, Ngan Son, Pac Nam, Bac Kan city (Bac Kan); Dai Tu, Dinh Hoa (Thai Nguyen); Bao Lac, Ha Quang, Hoa An, Nguyen Binh, Quang Hoa (Cao Bang); Mong Cai (Quang Ninh).

Weather in the regions during the day and night of August 2, the Northwest region has moderate rain, thunderstorms, locally heavy to very heavy rain; thunderstorms are likely to cause tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind. The lowest temperature is 22-25 degrees Celsius, some places below 22 degrees Celsius. The highest temperature is 28-31 degrees Celsius.

In the Northeast, there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms; in mountainous areas, there will be moderate rain and thunderstorms, with some places experiencing heavy to very heavy rain; in thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind. South to Southeast wind level 2-3. Lowest temperature 24-27 degrees Celsius. Highest temperature 29-32 degrees Celsius.

Hanoi capital sometimes has showers and thunderstorms, with the possibility of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind. South to Southeast wind level 2-3. Lowest temperature 25-27 degrees Celsius. Highest temperature 30-32 degrees Celsius.

Provinces from Thanh Hoa to Thua Thien-Hue have scattered showers and thunderstorms; in the North, there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms in the late afternoon and at night, with the possibility of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind. Southwest wind level 2-3. Lowest temperature 25-28 degrees Celsius. Highest temperature 31-34 degrees Celsius.

Provinces and cities from Da Nang to Binh Thuan will have sunny days, hot weather in the North; showers and thunderstorms in some places in the late afternoon and at night; thunderstorms are likely to cause tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. Southwest wind level 2-3. Lowest temperature 26-29 degrees Celsius. Highest temperature in the North 35-37 degrees Celsius, in the South 32-34 degrees Celsius.

In the Central Highlands, it will be sunny during the day, with showers and thunderstorms in some places in the late afternoon and at night; thunderstorms may include tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. Southwest wind level 2-3. Lowest temperature 21-24 degrees Celsius. Highest temperature 28-31 degrees Celsius, some places above 31 degrees Celsius.

Southern region: sunny during the day, with showers and thunderstorms in some places in the late afternoon and night; thunderstorms are likely to cause tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. Southwest wind level 2-3. Lowest temperature 24-27 degrees Celsius. Highest temperature 32-35 degrees Celsius.
