With the high determination of the investor and construction unit, the Dong Viet Bridge approach road construction project connecting National Highway 37 (Chi Linh) is likely to be completed ahead of schedule.
Solve the problem
These days, the working atmosphere at the construction site of the Dong Viet Bridge approach road connecting National Highway 37 (Chi Linh) is very urgent. 80 engineers, workers and 60 machines and equipment were mobilized, divided into 7 construction teams to carry out leveling, digging and filling the road.
The investment project to build the Dong Viet bridge approach road connecting to National Highway 37 (Chi Linh) has a total cost of more than 469.8 billion VND. The route is nearly 5.3km long, passing through the communes of Hung Dao, Le Loi and Cong Hoa ward. The starting point is at km8+590 in Hung Dao commune, the end point intersects with National Highway 37 in Cong Hoa ward (in the same city of Chi Linh). The approach road is designed as a level II plain road, the roadbed is 22.5m wide, the speed is 80km/h. After completion, the project will connect the two banks of the Thuong River.

When the project was first implemented, many problems arose in site clearance for the project. Some households in Le Loi and Hung Dao communes encountered difficulties in determining the origin of the land, the land use right certificate, the site clearance boundary, and the load-bearing structures of houses close to the construction site, which did not ensure safety during the construction process. Therefore, the development of compensation and support plans encountered many difficulties, prolonging the time for site recovery.
Mr. Vu Duy Dang, Chairman of Hung Dao Commune People's Committee, said that to overcome the difficulties, the locality has coordinated with the City's Land Clearance Council to carefully identify each case in the spirit of ensuring the interests of the State and the people to have appropriate solutions. Local leaders have actively promoted and mobilized households to understand the importance of the project, promptly hand over land, and complete land clearance on schedule.
Mr. Nguyen Van Kien, Commander of the Dong Viet Bridge approach road construction project, said that before the project was implemented, the construction area of the approach road had difficult terrain, surrounded by hills and forests, far from the main road, and had no public roads to transport materials and machinery. Before starting the project, the construction unit had to dig up the hill and build a transport road. After a few months of implementation, the initial difficulties were resolved.
Expected to be completed soon
According to the plan, the project to build the Dong Viet bridge approach road connecting to National Highway 37 will be constructed in 13 months from May 2023 to June 2024. To date, the contractor has dug and filled 4.6 km/5.3 km of roadbed; 0.6 km/5.3 km of crushed stone roadbed. It is expected that Hai Duong will complete the project in April 2024, 2 months ahead of schedule and complete it synchronously with the Dong Viet bridge construction project invested by Bac Giang province.
Mr. Tran Ngoc Tu, Executive Director of Dong Viet Bridge Project in Bac Giang, said that currently, the contractors are mobilizing about 150 workers divided into 6 construction teams, including 3 teams for the approach road on the Bac Giang side and 3 teams for the Dong Viet bridge. For Dong Viet bridge, the contractor has completed 12 piers and pillars; and launched 3 bridge spans on the Hai Duong side. "According to the contract signed with the investor, Dong Viet bridge and the approach road on the Bac Giang side will be completed and opened to traffic in December 2024. However, the contractor is speeding up the progress, striving to complete the project 3 months earlier than planned," said Mr. Tu.

Up to now, the People's Committee of Chi Linh City has basically completed the project site clearance. However, there are still some households that have not finished dismantling their assets to hand over to the construction unit (Le Loi commune has 3 households, Cong Hoa ward has 3 households, Hung Dao commune has 1 household). Some locations have additional site clearance boundaries due to the need to adjust intersections to ensure traffic safety when the project is put into operation, the People's Committee of Chi Linh City is implementing additional site clearance.
According to Mr. Le Anh Tuan, Deputy Director of the Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board, the Dong Viet Bridge and Access Road project is a project connecting the northern region of Hai Duong province with Bac Giang province. During the project implementation process, the difficulties and obstacles, especially the site clearance problems of the project, have been promptly addressed and directed by the provincial leaders. The People's Committee of Chi Linh City has actively implemented it. With the current progress, the project is expected to be completed earlier than planned.
