In an interview with the WSJ on April 15, Ashley St. Clair said that Elon Musk's financial manager, Jared Birchall, approached her after the baby was born in September 2024. Birchall convinced her not to make her relationship with Elon Musk public in exchange for financial support. She refused because she did not want her son - real name Romulus St. Clair - to feel like "a secret".

According to the author, the "tech mogul" wanted to pay her $15 million in one lump sum, $100,000 monthly until her son turned 21, and additional support in case the child became seriously ill. The agreement did not include security fees, trust funds, or life insurance if the businessman died before the child was old enough. In case St. Clair violated the terms, she would have to return the $15 million. However, Elon Musk withdrew the offer, and cut the allowance to $40,000 a month - 4 days after Ashley St. Clair went public with her "secret birth" on X.

In the same interview, St. Clair confirmed that she complied with some of the billionaire's requests while pregnant, including having to live in a secret apartment. According to the author's public messages to the WSJ , Elon Musk transferred her $ 2 million to pay for expenses and loans.

Since revealing her pregnancy, St. Clair and Elon Musk have been on edge. On February 21, St. Clair filed a petition in the New York Supreme Court for sole custody of the child, asking for confirmation of Musk’s paternity of the child. A month later, she told People that Elon Musk retaliated against her lawsuit by unilaterally reducing child support payments and seeking a restraining order against St. Clair.

Elon Musk has yet to confirm, but has hinted that he does not believe Romulus is his biological son. In a comment on X in late March, he attracted attention when he announced that he paid $2.5 million and $500,000 a year to St. Clair despite not being sure of his parentage and not bothering to do a DNA test. Based on recent paternity tests obtained by the WSJ , the probability that the two are father and son is 99.9999%.

Many news sites have contacted the billionaire for feedback on the incident, but Elon Musk has not yet responded.

Ashley St. Clair, born in 1999, is a children's author of Elephants Are Not Birds (2023). In addition to her writing career, she is known as a conservative, with over a million followers on X. She has also appeared on television channels, participated in podcasts, and online shows to discuss the topic of declining birth rates in wealthy countries.

In addition to St. Clair's child, Elon Musk has 13 children with three other women. He welcomed his first child with his first wife, Justine Wilson, in 2002, but the baby died at 10 weeks old. The couple had five more children before divorcing in 2008. After dating singer Grimes in 2018, he had three more children. Elon Musk is currently dating Neuralink startup CEO Shivon Zilis. They have four children together, including twins who were born a few weeks before Grimes welcomed her second child. Zilis announced on February 28 that she was expecting her fourth child with Musk, but did not disclose when the child was due.
