The first gold medals of the day came from chess. In the individual event, Pham Thi Huong won first place in the rapid chess event for the VI-B1 disability category. She and Tran Ngoc Loan won another gold medal in the team event. Doan Thu Huyen and Nguyen Thi Kieu also brought home their third gold medal in the rapid chess team event for the PI disability category.
Today, the "swimmers" of the Vietnam Paralympic Sports Delegation shined with 6 gold medals and 5 records. Swimmer Danh Hoa competed most impressively with 2 gold medals in the men's 200m freestyle S4 category and the 50m breaststroke SB3 category. Danh Hoa's achievement in the 200m freestyle was 2 minutes 26 seconds, and his achievement in the 50m breaststroke was 49 seconds 33. It is remarkable that both of Danh Hoa's achievements broke the ASEAN Para Games record.
After Danh Hoa's impressive double gold medal, the swimmers of the Vietnam Paralympic Sports Delegation continued to shine, winning four more gold medals thanks to Do Thanh Hai, Vo Huynh Anh Khoa, Nguyen Hoang Nha, and Vo Thanh Tung.
Do Thanh Hai won the gold medal in the 50m breaststroke for the disabled SB5 category with a time of 41.86 seconds, breaking the ASEAN Para Games record. Nguyen Hoang Nha won the gold medal in the 100m backstroke for the disabled S7 category with a time of 1 minute 15.56 seconds, also breaking the record. Vo Huynh Anh Khoa won the gold medal in the 100m backstroke for the disabled S8 category with a time of 1 minute 14.46 seconds, also breaking the ASEAN Para Games record. Vo Thanh Tung won the gold medal in the 50m backstroke for the disabled S5 category with a time of 41.88 seconds.
Thus, after 2 days of competition, the swimming team brought home a total of 13 gold medals for the Vietnamese Paralympic Sports Delegation.
In weightlifting, Chau Hoang Tuyet Loan broke the ASEAN Para Games record when she successfully lifted 105kg in the 55kg category to bring home 2 gold medals for the Vietnamese sports delegation.
As of 8:30 p.m., the Vietnamese Paralympic Sports Delegation had 29 gold medals, 24 silver medals, and 35 bronze medals, temporarily ranking second on the overall ranking of the 12th ASEAN Para Games.
