Today (June 27), the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee coordinated with the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports to organize a meeting to commend Ho Chi Minh City athletes and coaches for their successful participation in the recent 12th ASEAN Para Games in Cambodia.
Disabled athletes and coaches offer flowers to President Ho Chi Minh Monument
At the 12th ASEAN Para Games (from June 3 to June 9), the Vietnamese disabled sports delegation won 66 gold medals, 58 silver medals and 77 bronze medals, ranking 3rd overall. Of which, the Ho Chi Minh City unit contributed nearly 55% of its members, winning 57/66 gold medals (accounting for 86% of the gold medals of the Vietnamese delegation at the Games), 27 silver medals and 44 bronze medals.
At the award ceremony, Mr. Duong Anh Duc - Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee said: "I feel touched and grateful to the athletes who have made every effort to bring back remarkable achievements, beyond expectations. They have devoted themselves to bring glory to Ho Chi Minh City sports".

Athlete Nguyen Thi Hai, who won 3 gold medals in athletics at the 12th ASEAN Para Games, confided: "I am grateful, happy, and have emotions that cannot be expressed in words when I am here. As a disabled athlete, I feel proud of my achievements. The successes on the athletics field will certainly be very useful for us in life. Thank you to the city leaders, the city's sports industry and the sponsors for creating conditions for us to have this wonderful journey."
Mr. Nguyen Nam Nhan - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ho Chi Minh City awarded certificates of merit to disabled athletes of Ho Chi Minh City.

Mr. Nguyen Nam Nhan - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City said that with the achievements, Ho Chi Minh City spent about 11 billion VND in bonuses from the budget according to regulations for athletes and coaches with disabilities in Ho Chi Minh City. In which, for athletes, each gold medal is awarded 52 million VND for men and 58 million VND for women. Silver medals are awarded 29 million VND for men and 32 million VND for women. Each bronze medal is awarded 23 million VND for men and 25 million VND for women. This is the same level of bonus as for athletes in Ho Chi Minh City who achieved high results at the 32nd SEA Games.
