(HNMO) - On the evening of June 9, the closing ceremony of the 12th Southeast Asian Para Games (ASEAN Para Games 12) took place solemnly and emotionally at Morodok Techo Stadium (Cambodia).
After nearly a week of exciting competition, the 12th ASEAN Para Games officially ended with a grand and impressive closing ceremony with the presence of 11 Paralympic delegations from countries in the region. Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen attended and delivered the closing speech.
The closing ceremony of the 12th Southeast Asian Para Games impressed with artistic performances, sports performances and parades accompanied by traditional Cambodian music and spectacular lighting. The songs "Shining Cambodia" and "Language of the Heart" with beautiful and poetic melodies contributed to spreading the message "Sports - Living in Peace".
After the torch extinguishing ceremony, the flag lowering and handing over ceremony to Thailand, the country that will host the 13th ASEAN Para Games. Finally, the congress ended with the song "Thank you Cambodia".
Taking place from June 3 to 9, the 12th ASEAN Para Games will see the participation of more than 2,690 members of sports delegations from 11 countries in the region. Of these, about 1,450 athletes will compete in more than 400 events in 14 sports.
According to statistics from the 12th ASEAN Para Games Organizing Committee, the Vietnamese Paralympic Sports Delegation won a total of 201 medals, including 66 gold medals, 58 silver medals and 77 bronze medals. The delegation has excellently exceeded the target set before the Games (winning 50 to 55 gold medals) and ranked 3rd overall.
The Indonesian Paralympic delegation topped the medal tally with 159 gold medals, 148 silver medals and 94 bronze medals. The Thai Paralympic delegation is in second place with 126 gold medals, 110 silver medals and 92 bronze medals.
