Lao Cai: Industrial production value reaches over 9,500 billion VND

Some businesses have difficulty with raw materials due to problems in site clearance.

According to the Department of Industry and Trade, industrial and handicraft production activities in the province in the first quarter of 2025 faced many difficulties due to the time coinciding with the Lunar New Year holiday and some units stopped production to repair and maintain machinery and equipment; fertilizer and chemical production units lacked input materials, so they maintained operations at 50 - 70% capacity.

Meanwhile, the prices of products (such as fertilizers, chemicals, copper...) on the market are good but there are not enough products to supply to partners and customers, leading to low production value of the industry.

Mining, processing, hydropower... industries contribute mainly to the industrial production value of the province.

Statistics show that the industrial and handicraft production value of Lao Cai in March 2025 reached 3,503 billion VND, up 6.5% compared to February; in the first quarter of 2025, it reached 9,568 billion VND, equal to 15.95% of the 2025 plan, down 3.2% compared to the same period in 2024.

Currently, production and business activities of mineral exploitation and processing units are facing difficulties related to site clearance, land lease, resettlement area arrangement, waste disposal, etc. If not resolved soon, some units will have to temporarily stop production.
