Spain Madrid prosecutors are calling for a four-year and nine-month prison sentence for coach Carlo Ancelotti.
According to Relevo on March 6, the Madrid prosecutor's office accused Ancelotti of two counts of tax evasion on income from the exploitation of image copyrights, amounting to 420,000 USD in 2014 and 735,000 USD in 2015. At these two time points, Ancelotti was living in Spain, with income from the exploitation of image copyrights of 1.4 million and 3.1 million USD. The prison sentence proposed by the prosecutor's office is 4 years and 9 months.

According to the Public Prosecutor's Office, Ancelotti only recognized income from leading Real Madrid in his tax declaration. The agency said that for income from exploiting image copyright, in July 2013, the Italian coach evaded taxes by transferring the image copyright to Vapia Limited, a company located outside Spain, for 27.5 million USD for a period of 10 years. After that, Ancelotti is said to have appointed himself as the company's leader and reduced the contract value to 1.1 million USD for three years.
Ancelotti could soon be questioned and sentenced. "If found guilty, one of the most famous coaches in football history could see his career end in disgrace," wrote Goal .
Ancelotti first signed a contract to lead Real Madrid from July 2013 to June 2016. He was fired a year early, but continued to rent a house in Madrid until the end of 2015. In his first two years in charge, he helped Real win the Champions League, Copa del Rey, European Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.
Ancelotti returned to Real in 2021 and has been in charge ever since. This time he has won the Champions League, La Liga, Copa del Rey, two Spanish Super Cups, the European Super Cup, the FIFA Club World Cup, and is on track to win another La Liga and Champions League. Last December, he extended his contract until June 2026.
Ancelotti has also won two Champions Leagues, Serie A with AC Milan, the Premier League with Chelsea, Ligue 1 with PSG and the Bundesliga with Bayern. With four Champions Leagues, he is the most successful coach in this tournament.
On the evening of March 6, Real will host Leipzig in the second leg of the Champions League round of 16. In the first leg, Ancelotti's team won 1-0 right on the opponent's field.
