(Dan Tri) - The 2024 Asian Police Taekwondo Open Championship, held from December 6-9 in Quang Ninh province, has ended successfully. This is not only a sporting event but also a cultural bridge, contributing to spreading the image of the country and people of Vietnam to the world.
The tournament, hosted by the Ministry of Public Security and organized by the Vietnam People's Police Sports Association in coordination with the World Police Taekwondo Federation, affirmed the strong spirit through the slogan "Police Power - Taekwondo Police - global citizen protectors".
With the participation of more than 2,000 athletes from 19 countries and territories, the tournament not only affirmed the stature of an international sporting event, but also demonstrated the great role of sports in strengthening solidarity, enhancing cooperation and promoting sustainable development among countries.
This is also a playground for athletes to affirm their talent, bravery and dedication in the regional arena, contributing to enhancing the sports status of participating countries.
At the end of the tournament, the Vietnam People's Public Security Sports Association delegation won 37 gold medals, 36 silver medals and 33 bronze medals.
The Indonesian team won second place with 7 gold medals, 6 silver medals and 4 bronze medals, while the Cambodian team ranked third with 4 gold medals, 2 silver medals and 1 bronze medal.
In the open competition for civilian clubs, representatives from Korea dominated with the first, second, and third place results respectively: Jeong Jeom University, Shinhan University, and Daekyung University.
Besides the dramatic matches, the Opening Ceremony and the special welcoming art program honored the image of a modern, rich-in-identity Vietnam, along with a special cavalry performance that left a deep impression on the audience and international friends.
