The Lunar New Year of At Ty is approaching. This is the time when the volume of transportation and the travel needs of people increase. For those who study, work, or do business far from home, this is an essential need because everyone wants to reunite with their family and celebrate a full, united, and warm Tet. Therefore, improving transportation capacity, ensuring safety, thoughtfulness, and serving passengers to enjoy Spring and celebrate Tet are problems that are soon posed to managers and functional sectors, especially the Transport sector, as the cycle of 2024 gradually comes to an end and the traditional Tet holiday of the nation is approaching.
Traffic Inspectorate and Traffic Police strengthen inspection, control and strictly handle violations in passenger transportation.
Improve transport capacity, be proactive early and from afar
This year, the New Year and Lunar New Year are quite close together, requiring early proactive plans and solutions to serve the safe travel needs of the people, ensuring that everyone can enjoy the Spring Festival and celebrate Tet. In mid-December 2024, the Prime Minister issued a Directive to strengthen measures to ensure a joyful, healthy, safe and economical Lunar New Year 2025 with a combination of directive measures, in which the Ministry of Transport was assigned to preside over and coordinate with ministries, branches and localities to strengthen the regulation and strict management of transportation activities, serving the travel needs of people during the Lunar New Year, preventing people from returning home late for Tet due to lack of means of transportation.
The Head of Government also requested the transport sector to improve transport capacity, organize smooth passenger and cargo transport before, during and after Tet, especially in remote areas, ethnic minority areas, and islands; strengthen inspection and control of technical safety quality of vehicles participating in traffic. Coordinate effectively in implementing solutions to control and minimize traffic accidents and overcome traffic congestion, especially on routes connecting Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, major traffic hubs (stations, airports, ports, etc.), areas where Spring festivals are held, etc.
Regarding the ministries and functional branches, according to Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Duy Lam, the Ministry will soon issue directives and plans to ensure good service for people's travel needs and freight transport to serve socio-economic development; closely coordinate with functional forces and local authorities in ensuring traffic safety at the end of the year, before, during and after the Lunar New Year holiday, and the 2025 Spring Festival season. "The Ministry focuses on directing transport units to develop service plans, deploy transport organization plans, respond promptly when transport needs increase, ensure passenger clearance and minimize traffic congestion..." - Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Lam emphasized.
Along with the road transport system, the Railway industry has also proactively developed plans to ensure the best service for passengers during Tet. In addition to organizing early ticket sales, diversifying ticket sales methods, creating maximum convenience for train passengers, opening sales at all ticket sales channels of the Railway industry such as websites: www.dsvn.vn, www.vetau.com.vn, www.vetauonline.vn or through e-wallet applications, train ticket sales apps on mobile devices or at stations, points, ticket sales agents of Vietnam Railways, through ticket sales call centers, the Railway industry also organized 11 more trains from Ho Chi Minh City to Quang Ngai, Hanoi and vice versa, providing 5,000 more seats for passengers...
Passengers can refer to information about routes, bus schedules, and price lists at Viet Tri Bus Station.
Smooth and synchronized operation
It can be seen that, from the direction of the Prime Minister and relevant ministries and branches, localities have actively participated, proactively from early on, from afar, creating detailed "scenarios", carefully preparing, creating a smooth, synchronous, unified operating mechanism, ensuring to meet, safely and thoughtfully serve the travel needs of the people, contributing to bringing joy and happiness to everyone, every family when Spring comes, Tet comes. For example, the Hanoi Department of Transport has a plan to serve the travel needs of the people, ensuring traffic order and safety (TTATGT) during the New Year, Lunar New Year and the 2025 Spring festival season, clearly defining the tasks and responsibilities of each agency, unit, and types of freight and passenger transport.
In particular, directing inter-provincial passenger transport units, contracted and tourism units to mobilize maximum vehicle capacity to reduce pressure at bus stations in the days before and after Tet holiday; bus stations coordinate with inter-provincial passenger transport business units to promptly deploy forms of selling tickets to passengers; proactively sign contracts with universities, colleges, industrial parks, export processing zones, agencies and units of the armed forces... that need to transport passengers to provinces and cities across the country. Have backup plans for vehicles on routes to promptly relieve sudden increases in passengers, strictly prohibiting businesses from canceling trips to use contracted passenger transport vehicles...
Transport units ensure sufficient vehicles and human resources to serve passengers' travel needs during Tet.
In Phu Tho, the Department of Transport has synchronously deployed measures such as checking and reviewing the road traffic infrastructure system, residential crossings, and points at risk of traffic accidents to ensure traffic safety and promptly handle incidents; prepare sufficient quantity and ensure the quality of means of transport, promptly serve the travel needs of the people, and prevent passengers from returning home for Tet due to lack of means of transport. Strengthen coordination in patrolling, controlling, and strictly handling violations; instructing and organizing traffic flow to prevent traffic congestion; preventing the transport of prohibited goods, goods at risk of disease outbreak and spread and terrorism risks.
Not only being proactive, ready, improving transport capacity and service ability, the Department of Transport requires vehicles participating in traffic to ensure good technical condition and safety; thoroughly instruct drivers to comply with regulations on time, speed, absolutely not using alcohol, beer, or prohibited substances before and while driving. Actively coordinate direct and online ticket sales for passengers to avoid congestion; declare and post prices according to regulations, do not take advantage of the high number of passengers during Tet to increase prices; have the best forms of priority and incentives for people in difficult circumstances, policy families, people with disabilities, the elderly... to serve thoughtfully, safely, and conveniently for all passengers.
“We set up a hotline; assigned staff to be on duty, monitor, grasp, synthesize, periodically report on the results of performing tasks, proactively advise on timely handling of difficulties and problems to ensure safety and smooth traffic before, during and after the Lunar New Year 2025” - Deputy Director of the Department of Transport Ha Trung Thanh shared.
