An Binh Commercial Joint Stock Bank (ABBANK) and its foreign strategic shareholder Malayan Banking Berhad (Maybank) have just signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen strategic cooperation, focusing on supporting transformation initiatives and capacity building for ABBANK. The event took place in Hanoi, within the framework of a visit to ABBANK by a delegation of senior leaders of Maybank.
The MoU focuses on consulting projects to improve ABBANK's operational efficiency, especially in the transition period, with three main areas: SME Banking, Retail Banking and Digitalization. Over the past 16 years, Maybank has been a strategic shareholder of ABBANK, providing support through cooperative activities such as capital, trade finance, international payments and sharing experience in developing the areas of 1- SME Banking; 2- Retail Banking and 3- Digitalization and other areas suitable for the business operations of both parties.
Mr. Dato' Khairussaleh Ramli - Chairman, General Director of Maybank Group and representative of ABBANK, Mr. Vu Van Tien - Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors signed the Memorandum of Understanding with the witness and congratulations of senior members of the two organizations.
At the signing ceremony, ABBANK representative, Mr. Vu Van Tien, emphasized the importance of digital transformation and human resource development, considering this a core factor for the successful implementation of the comprehensive transformation process. He hoped that Maybank would accompany, provide experts and support the improvement of human resource capacity. Meanwhile, Mr. Dato' Khairussaleh Ram, Chairman and CEO of Maybank Group, affirmed his desire to support ABBANK in areas such as retail, SME and digitalization, and share experiences from the M25+ transformation program that Maybank is implementing.
Accompanying ABBANK, Maybank has been providing valuable support to the Bank in orienting retail banking, sustainable development and governance according to international standards.
This cooperation aims to open up new development opportunities for both parties, especially in the context of ABBANK implementing comprehensive transformation steps. This step marks a period of deeper cooperation between ABBANK and Maybank, promoting sustainable development and strengthening its position in the regional financial market.
