Group of artists from Hanoi with the results of their creative days in A Luoi |
In late March and early April, a group of more than 40 artists from Hanoi, Hue and the artisans themselves – the traditional craftsmen in A Luoi – had the experience of creating art on the theme of this western land about 70km from the center of Hue City.
A Luoi is no longer strange to tourists, nor is it something too strange to artists in general, especially those in the painting world. Yet every time they set foot in this place, those holding pens and brushes are attracted and fascinated by the natural scenery, unique architectural works, or simply the daily life of ethnic minorities.
Everyone together directly created works of architecture typical of A Luoi land, such as Moong house (long stilt house) of Pa Co people, Rong house of Ta Oi people, Guol house of Co Tu people. All seemed to be amazed by the patterns and decorative motifs in those houses with their own unique characteristics, extremely unique and special. Not only that, the themes of life, culinary culture of this land also attracted the creators... Just like that, all seemed to captivate the artists, from which they created unique works, bringing impressive artistic perspectives.
During nearly a week of composing, the artists shared the same feeling that the landscape and people of this place were extremely peaceful and poetic, thus making them moved and full of emotions, as if adding another material to make the work more intimate. And more than 120 paintings, mostly sketches, were the result of this field trip and composition organized by the Hue Museum of Fine Arts, which was considered very successful. Each work is a story, a perspective and a personal feeling of the artist for the land of A Luoi.
This creative campaign also includes dozens of works of handicraft products of A Luoi Zeng weaving village, wood carving, Noq pottery, weaving... also made by artisans of A Luoi ethnic minorities. Each handicraft product is both a work of art, has both practical value and aesthetic value, expressing unique characteristics in the cultural treasure of ethnic groups. Moreover, it is like an exchange between highland artists and lowland artists in the journey to promote and preserve the cultural values of A Luoi land.
Ms. Dinh Thi Hoai Trai, Director of Hue Museum of Fine Arts - the organizer of this creative event, said that although many experiences and creative events have been organized for artists, A Luoi is still an impressive destination, creating strong interest for those who are passionate about painting. This land is not only poetic and charming because of its scenery but also because of the affection and hospitality of its people. Choosing A Luoi, the organizers hope to use painting to contribute a common voice to preserve, maintain and promote traditional culture, which is facing many challenges from many new trends as well as the risk of change and gradual loss over time.
“This creative program contributes to preserving, maintaining, promoting and honoring the traditional cultural and artistic values of ethnic minorities in A Luoi. The works created on this occasion demonstrate the passion and enthusiasm of artists, painters and artisans in their own works,” Ms. Trai affirmed.
And, the works created on this occasion are considered valuable documents, serving for effective display and promotion to contribute to introducing and promoting Hue cultural heritage in general, A Luoi traditional culture in particular to the public and tourists.
