On the morning of July 15, commemorating the 70th anniversary of the signing of the Geneva Agreement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in coordination with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, organized the exhibition "Geneva Agreement on the Cessation of Hostilities in Vietnam - A Historical Milestone of Vietnamese Revolutionary Diplomacy" (July 21, 1954 - July 21, 2024).
The Geneva Conference was a major multilateral international conference with the participation of the world's major powers. Along with the Dien Bien Phu Victory on May 7, 1954, the signing of the Geneva Agreement ended the victory of our people's resistance war against French colonialism, opening up a new strategic situation for the Vietnamese revolution.
The event not only affirms Vietnam as an independent, sovereign and peace-loving nation, but also demonstrates the intelligence, mettle and character of a peaceful nation with thousands of years of civilization and an indomitable will to protect independence, sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity.

Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son assessed that with this victory, for the first time in history, Vietnam's basic national rights of independence, sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity have been officially affirmed in international treaties and recognized and respected by the countries and parties attending the conference.
At the same time, the victory opened up a new strategic situation for Vietnam to move towards the complete realization of the goals of peace, national independence, national unification and the construction of socialism. The Geneva Agreement, together with the Dien Bien Phu victory that “resounded throughout the five continents and shook the world,” created great inspiration and encouragement for the national liberation movement around the world.
Minister Bui Thanh Son said the exhibition displays about 120 photos, documents and artifacts, including documents and artifacts about the Geneva Agreement that are being introduced to the public for the first time.

The exhibition recreates the process of negotiation, signing and implementation of the Geneva Agreement, thereby helping the people and international friends to understand more fully and deeply the significance and significance of the agreement. In addition, it also helps to perceive more vividly the indomitable will of our people in the struggle for national liberation, national unification, building and defending the Fatherland as well as the unique and distinctive character and character of Vietnamese diplomacy in the Ho Chi Minh era.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also introduced the photo book “Geneva Agreement 1954 – A historical milestone of the Vietnamese revolution”, which collects more than 250 photos and documents related to the negotiation, signing and implementation of the Geneva Agreement.
