According to the synthesis of the Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection, by August 25, 63,276 hectares of winter-spring rice had been sprayed with pesticides to prevent and control two-spotted stem borers and small leaf rollers in the first phase from August 21 to 26, reaching 96% of the area that needed spraying.
Farmers in Kien Xuong district spray pesticides to prevent and control pests on winter-spring rice.
Effective prevention and control of pests and diseases at this time will determine the yield of the winter-spring rice crop, so during the days of the campaign to prevent and control pests and diseases to protect the winter-spring rice crop, local leaders and technical staff will increase progress inspection, urge and guide farmers in spraying.
The second phase of pest control took place from September 2 to 6, in which Tien Hai, Kien Xuong districts and the southern communes of Thai Thuy district focused on preventing and controlling small leaf rollers for rice areas that had been flowering after September 15; Hung Ha, Dong Hung, Quynh Phu, Thai Thuy, and Vu Thu districts focused on spraying two-spotted stem borers for the entire rice area that had been flowering before September 10, spraying during the early flowering stage. In Thai Binh city, rice basically had been flowering after September 10, but due to the high density of two-spotted stem borers, prevention and control had to be done during this stage to protect the panicles.
The agricultural sector recommends that localities regulate water to ensure enough water for rice to form panicles and bloom, and at the same time, it is necessary to add NPK fertilizer with high potassium content to rice that is currently tillering and differentiating panicles (fertilizer amount is about 3kg/sao).
