The Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) education organization has just announced the 2025 Asian university rankings. Vietnam has 17 schools on the list, up two schools from the previous ranking. The two new schools are Ho Chi Minh City Open University and Vinh University.
In the top 200, Duy Tan University has the highest position, ranked 127th among the schools in our country. Next are Hanoi National University and Ho Chi Minh City National University, ranked 161st and 184th respectively. Ton Duc Thang University is in fourth place, ranked 199th.
In the 300-500 group, there are Nguyen Tat Thanh University (ranked 333), Hue University (ranked 348), Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics (ranked 369), and Hanoi University of Science and Technology (ranked 388). Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education and Da Nang University are both ranked 421-430.

China is the leading country with the largest number of universities in the top 10 with 4 schools, maintaining their rankings from last year, including: Beijing University (ranked 1st), Fudan University (ranked 5th), Tsinghua University (ranked 7th), Zhejiang University (ranked 8th).
Hong Kong (China) has 3 schools in the top 10, including the University of Hong Kong (ranked 2nd), the Chinese University of Hong Kong (ranked 6th), and the City University of Hong Kong (ranked 10th).
Singapore has two schools in the top 10, including the National University of Singapore (ranked 3rd) and Nanyang Technological University (ranked 4th).
QS is one of the three famous university ranking organizations, along with Times Higher Education (THE) and Shanghai Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU). The QS Asia University Rankings 2025 has 984 universities from 29 countries and territories.
Of the nine criteria used for assessment, academic reputation has the largest weight (30%), followed by citations (20%). The remaining criteria are university prestige, faculty/student ratio, internationality, international research network, employment outcomes and sustainability, accounting for about 5-15%.
