At the age of 76, Mrs. Ly still talks coherently. She said that she was born and raised in difficult circumstances. Her parents struggled to raise 12 children. At the age of 25, Mrs. Ly got married. However, the couple's happiness was not complete. After the divorce, Mrs. Ly had to take care of her two children. At that time, the youngest child was still in the cradle, and the older child could not walk steadily. Difficulties came to her constantly. Mrs. Ly's greatest comfort was that her children were all healthy and loved their mother.
However, life once again put Mrs. Ly to a harsh test. In 2004, her son, Pham Truong Nguyen, was in a traffic accident. To save her son, Mrs. Ly had to borrow money everywhere, sell everything she could, but the doctors could only save his life, not help him recover. Since then, 21 years have passed, and Mrs. Ly's son still cannot leave his hospital bed. All of his eating, drinking, and hygiene depend on his mother, who is getting older and weaker.
Talking with tears in her eyes, Mrs. Ly said that she used to think that if she tried to take care of her child and exercise, her child would be able to sit up and walk. However, as time passed, her child's limbs became increasingly cramped. Every time the weather changed, the wounds on her child's body made her child cry out all night. She had to stay up all night to massage her child's limbs, encourage and advise her.
Since her son had an accident and was bedridden, Mrs. Ly has been unable to do business or work for hire. The mother and son live on a small allowance. The makeshift house is increasingly dilapidated. Every time there is heavy rain, water from the road flows into the house, stagnating, making the old mother constantly worried. In Mrs. Ly's mind, the plan to raise the house's foundation has been formed for a long time, but she is powerless. Because she has a bigger worry: how to have three meals a day, medicine when she is sick...
As she got older, her health deteriorated. At the same time, Mrs. Ly's worries grew. She just wanted to live long enough to support her son.
