Stanford and Pennsylvania Business Schools rose to the top of this year's ranking of America's best business schools, up two to five places from last year.
US News announced its rankings of the best business schools in the US in mid-April, 2024. These are schools that offer full-time Master of Business Administration (MBA) programs.
Compared to last year, this year's rankings are still filled with familiar names, but there are strong fluctuations in rankings. Tied for first place are Stanford Business School (Stanford University), up 5 places, and Wharton Business School (University of Pennsylvania), up 2 places.
Last year's champion, the University of Chicago's Booth School of Business, was pushed down to third place. Also in third place was Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management, which dropped one spot.
MIT Sloan School of Management and Harvard Business School also dropped one place, ranking 5th and 6th, respectively.
The remaining names in the top 10 are the Stern School of Business (New York University), the Haas School (University of California, Berkeley), the Yale School of Management (Yale University) and the Tuck School of Business (Dartmouth College).

MBA programs typically last two years. Except for MIT Sloan School of Management, which has not yet announced tuition for the upcoming academic year, the top 10 schools charge between $74,900 and $84,100 a year. The most expensive is Stern School of Business, while the cheapest is Harvard Business School.
In terms of student numbers, Harvard Business School has the most applicants, 1,953. The school with the smallest number of students is Haas, with about 500.

In 2024, US News surveyed 506 MBA programs, up 10 from last year. As a result, more than 100 schools were ranked.
The ranking criteria also increased from 8 to 9. In particular, the new criterion is salary by industry, accounting for 10%. The employment rate after graduation accounts for 20% (previously 30%), average salary and bonus of students after graduation (20%), and employer evaluation (12.5%).
Other criteria include peer reviews (from other schools), accounting for 12.5%; student GPA (10%), GMAT and GRE standardized test scores of new students (13%)...
