The model of growing fruit trees combined with raising livestock brings stable income to Mr. Nguyen Dang Huu's family.

Returning to Trai Yen area, we noticed that the rural appearance here has changed positively when the inter-area road has been concreted. The newly built spacious houses next to the lush green fruit gardens are proof of a new prosperous life. Comrade Nguyen Thai Son - Head of Trai Yen area said: Currently, Trai Yen has 44 households with 215 people. Implementing the State's policy, people in the area have boldly changed the crop structure to growing fruit trees, the average income of people has now reached more than 20 million VND/person/year. Thanks to that, many households have escaped poverty, up to now the area has only 3 poor households and 5 near-poor households.

In recent years, Yen Son commune has restructured the agricultural sector towards increasing the value of goods, economic efficiency, sustainable development; exploiting the potential and advantages of each area and village. The commune has stepped up propaganda and supported people to change crop structure, develop livestock, poultry, aquaculture, and afforestation; apply scientific and technical advances, and increase production value on the same cultivation unit. The commune currently has about 60 hectares of Dien grapefruit, of which 42 hectares have been harvested; nearly 370 hectares of tea with 147 hectares harvested with an output of over 1,600 tons. Taking advantage of the forested hills, many households have invested in livestock farming, bringing high economic value. Currently, the total herd of buffaloes, cows, goats, and pigs in the commune has increased to more than 7,500 heads, and the herd of poultry and waterfowl has increased to more than 65,000 heads.

On an area of ​​over 2,000 square meters of his family's garden land, Mr. Nguyen Dang Huu in Trai Yen area has boldly converted the entire area to grow perennial fruit trees, combined with beekeeping, chicken and pig farming. After nearly 10 years of investing, caring for and producing in the direction of safe agriculture, Mr. Huu's family's tree-animal economic model has brought in a stable income of over 100 million VND per year.

Along with that, the commune also focuses on developing small-scale industrial production, services, and trade activities. In the commune, there are currently 5 cement brick factories, 2 wood processing factories, 10 carpentry and furniture factories, 9 mechanical workshops, etc. Outstanding loans from the Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development are 87 billion VND, and the District Social Policy Bank is over 65 billion VND, which has been meeting the capital needs for production of business households as well as enterprises in the area.

In poverty reduction work, the commune also focuses on introducing jobs for workers and creating conditions for poor households to access policy capital. In 2024, the commune will have 12 workers going abroad to work. Each year, the commune coordinates with units to open 5-10 vocational training classes, training in cultivation and livestock farming techniques for people; mobilizing people to promote local strengths to expand the area of ​​fruit trees such as oranges, grapefruits, lemons, etc., thereby creating jobs for hundreds of workers; the rate of trained workers and workers with certificates reaches nearly 70%. Thereby, many households have risen to develop the economy, quickly escaped poverty, reducing the rate of poor households in the whole commune to 19% and near-poor households to 14%.

Comrade Nguyen Van Thang - Chairman of the Commune People's Committee said: "Yen Son Commune will continue to focus on propaganda to raise awareness and consciousness of the people to proactively promote internal strength, develop the economy and escape poverty. Associations and unions continue to focus on coordinating with the District Social Policy Bank to effectively implement credit programs. Pay attention to consulting and supporting people to effectively use loan capital to develop the economy, stabilize their lives and escape poverty sustainably".
