At the moment of transition from the old year 2024 to the new year 2025, when the street corners are bustling with music, many people drive to watch fireworks, the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway construction site is still filled with the spirit of work. Hundreds of engineers and workers put aside the joy of family reunion, not taking a New Year's holiday to speed up the progress of the key expressway.
According to the reporter of Giao thong Newspaper, in the middle of the night, hundreds of people were still working hard despite the cold weather and outside, people and families were happily welcoming the new year.
Present at the expressway section through Phu My town, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, the reporter noticed the bustling construction atmosphere with many engineers, workers, motorbikes and equipment working non-stop. Mr. Duong Hong Quan, Commander (Son Hai Group Co., Ltd.) said that the project component 3 has so far paved about 15km of asphalt. The weather is favorable so the contractor encouraged the brothers to work continuously to increase production.
“We are committed to opening the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway component 3 project to traffic on April 30, 2025, so we have to take advantage of every day, working through the New Year to complete each item in turn. Along with the asphalt paving, workers are also building longitudinal ditches, drainage systems, protective fences…”, Mr. Quan said.
On the construction site, there are many groups working throughout, some driving rollers, bulldozers, and others operating asphalt paving equipment. In another corner, a group of workers are using shovels to level rocks, adjusting to ensure quality and flatness during the paving process. Rollers are also running back and forth on the road surface to compact the newly paved asphalt layer.
Some workers are in charge of moving and adjusting the lighting to facilitate nighttime construction. At the same time, dump truck drivers are also constantly moving to deliver rocks to the construction site.
According to the Cai Mep - Thi Vai Regional Traffic Project Management Board, the output of the expressway section through Ba Ria - Vung Tau province has reached 51%. To ensure technical traffic opening in April 2025, we always maintain close connection between relevant parties. Any arising issues are promptly handled, and additional human resources and necessary equipment are provided to speed up the progress," the Board's leader shared. Similarly, at component 1 and component 2 of Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway project through Dong Nai province, engineers and workers also actively worked day and night, through holidays to push the progress, making up for the difficult period of land and embankment.
Project Management Board 85 and Dong Nai Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board have urged and closely monitored the construction process of contractors, requiring them to speed up the items to complete the project on time. In the project component 2, workers focus on building major intersections, bridges, tunnels, main roads, and branch roads. They focus on building the roadbed in Phuoc Binh commune, Long Thanh district. Meanwhile, the project component 1 in package 18 is still mainly casting beams, clearing the ground, and building the roadbed. The Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway is nearly 54km long, with 4-6 lanes, depending on the section, with a total investment of more than 17,800 billion VND. Of which, section 1 is 16km long and invested by Dong Nai province; section 2 is 18.2km long and invested by the Ministry of Transport; and section 3 is nearly 20km long and invested by Ba Ria - Vung Tau province.
