HO CHI MINH CITY - LONG THANH - DAU GIAY EXPANSION PROJECT WILL START IN THE FIRST HALF OF 2025

According to the Ministry of Transport, in 2025, 19 important transport infrastructure projects will begin construction.

In particular, the Ministry of Transport will speed up investment preparation to start projects to upgrade and expand the following expressways: Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong - My Thuan; Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh section of the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway; Cam Lo - La Son; La Son - Tuy Loan; Cho Moi - Bac Kan, My An - Cao Lanh phase 1, ... in the first and second quarters of 2025.

The Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway has a total length of 55km. The project was put into operation in mid-2016 with a scale of 4 lanes. After nearly 10 years of operation, this expressway has become overloaded. Therefore, the need to upgrade and expand this expressway is becoming very urgent, especially for the section from Ho Chi Minh City to Long Thanh district to serve the transportation needs when Long Thanh International Airport Phase 1 is put into operation in 2026.

According to the proposed plan, the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh section will be expanded to nearly 22km in length. The starting point is at Km4+000 (Ring Road 2 intersection) in Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City; the ending point is at Km25+920 (Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway intersection) in Long Thanh District, Dong Nai Province.

In the proposed expanded section, the section from the Ring Road 2 intersection to the Ring Road 3 intersection (Km4+00 to Km8+770) will have 8 lanes according to the plan. The section from the Ring Road 3 intersection to the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway intersection (Km8+770 to Km25+920) will have 10 lanes according to the plan.

For Long Thanh bridge, we will invest in building a new bridge unit with a scale similar to the current bridge, organizing traffic exploitation with a scale of 10 lanes. With this plan, the total investment is expected to be nearly 15 trillion VND.
