Volunteer to build new countryside

Dong Hy District Youth Union organized the inauguration and handover of the "New Rural House" to Mr. Ngo Van Sung's family, in Lien Phuong hamlet, Van Lang commune.

With the spirit of "Where there is a need, there is youth, where there is difficulty, there is youth", volunteer youth teams in Dong Hy district have actively participated in building and repairing rural traffic works, intra-field canals, and hamlet cultural houses...

Secretary of the District Youth Union Nong Khac Huy said: Every year, the District Youth Union chooses a theme and a task to build a Youth Month action program to start the year-round activities. In March, the Youth Union organized over 25 volunteer activities to participate in building new rural areas and civilized urban areas, and organized a peak day to join hands in building new rural areas and civilized urban areas, with activities such as cleaning village roads and alleys, collecting garbage in riverbanks and lakes, planting trees, actively building green, clean and beautiful landscapes... attracting nearly 1,000 youth union members to participate.

After nearly 30 days of hard work, the youth of the district have built an additional 7,000m of the "Lighting up the countryside" road to serve the people, beautify village roads and alleys, contribute to ensuring security and order in the localities; and planted over 6,500 new public trees and forest gardens for poor households.

In particular, the youth force of the whole district has constructed and handed over 7 construction projects with a total value of over 570 million VND, such as: "New rural house" in Van Lang commune, "Green energy lighting route" in La Day hamlet, Khe Mo commune, "National flag route" in Tan Do hamlet, Hoa Binh commune, "Community sports complex" in Trai Cau town, cultural facilities for Ngai ethnic people in Hoa Thuong town, "Village lighting route" in Nam Hoa and Quang Son communes. At the same time, the construction of 2 new projects "New rural house" in Van Han commune and "Red scarf house" in Hop Tien commune was started, with a support budget of 110 million VND.

Continuing the tradition of pioneering and volunteering, Dong Hy youth have been affirming their leading role in creativity, actively contributing to the cause of rural construction and development. Every year, the Youth Union branches in the district organize volunteer activities that attract a large number of union members and young people to participate, such as: Youth volunteer movement to participate in building new rural areas, civilized urban areas, protecting the environment, responding to climate change; "Green Summer" campaign, "Supporting exam season" program, "Voluntary blood donation festival"...

The Youth Union donated outdoor sports facilities to people in Tam Thai residential group, Hoa Thuong town (Dong Hy).

In 2024 alone, the District Youth Union coordinated to organize the implementation of 15 youth projects with a total support budget of 570 million VND. The affiliated Youth Union bases built 39 projects and youth works worth nearly 400 million VND, including 15 "Lighting up the countryside" routes over 17,750m long, worth over 233 million VND, 4 sports and exercise facilities worth 45 million VND... Notably, when storm No. 3 (2024) passed, thousands of union members and youth in the district participated in overcoming the consequences of floods and storms, providing necessities to the people, with a total value of over 800 million VND.

In addition to volunteer activities, young people also actively participate in start-up and economic development programs, in which the Youth Union is entrusted to manage capital from banks, creating motivation for union members to develop the economy. Up to now, the outstanding debt managed by the Youth Union in the district is nearly 130 billion VND, with 2,686 union member households borrowing capital.

From this credit channel, many effective economic models have been created, such as: The farm economic development model of union member Duong Van Trung (Minh Lap commune). The model has an income of about 400 million VND/year, creating regular jobs for 4 workers with an income of 7.5 million VND/month/person. Or the peeling wood workshop model of union member Hoang Tuan Anh (Van Lang commune) with a scale of 2,000m2, creating stable jobs for 20 workers, with an income of 7-10 million VND/month/person.

From grassroots activities, volunteering for the community, and emulation movements, the district has hundreds of exemplary models. In 2024, the Youth Union chapters at all levels introduced 101 outstanding members for the Party to consider for admission. In the 2025 Youth Month alone, the District Youth Union introduced 7 outstanding members to be admitted to the Party.

The results of the youth volunteer movement in Dong Hy district not only bring practical benefits to the community but also contribute to educating and training the younger generation in ethics, ideals and revolutionary traditions. At the same time, it affirms that they are the core force joining hands to build sustainable new rural areas.
