Warm Hometown Spring in Islamabad

On February 17, the 8th day of the Lunar New Year, the Vietnamese Embassy in Pakistan organized the Spring Homeland 2024 with the participation of the Vietnamese community in the host country, Ambassadors, Pakistani officials who have worked in Vietnam, and representatives of a number of local departments, local press agencies, and a number of businesses and close partners of the Embassy.

In his opening speech, Ambassador Nguyen Tien Phong emphasized the significance of the traditional Tet holiday of the Vietnamese people, the cultural features and traditions of great solidarity in the history of building, defending the country and developing Vietnam today.

Ambassador Nguyen Tien Phong shared that 2023 passed with many difficulties and major fluctuations, complexities, unpredictability, increasing uncertainties, prolonged conflicts, local wars taking place in many regions, climate change causing increasingly extreme weather while the economy is slow to recover, negatively affecting all countries including Vietnam and Pakistan.

In that context, under the wise leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, with the efforts of the entire nation, including the significant contributions of our overseas Vietnamese, including the Vietnamese community in Pakistan, the country has achieved tremendous achievements in all fields, as General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong said, "Our country has never had such a foundation, potential, position and international prestige as it does today."

Ambassador Nguyen Tien Phong emphasized that the results of 2023 have contributed to deepening the country's great and historic achievements after nearly 50 years of unification and nearly 40 years of implementing the Doi Moi process.

Vietnam has affirmed its image and position as an independent, self-reliant, dynamically developing country; a loyal and sincere friend, a reliable partner, an active and responsible member of the international community; a country of peace, friendship, cooperation and development; a beautiful, safe, friendly and hospitable destination...

The Ambassador affirmed that the above achievements could not have been achieved without promoting the strength of national solidarity, strong will and courage, determination, self-reliance, and strong aspiration for independence, freedom, peace and happiness of our nation, including the valuable and very important contributions of the overseas Vietnamese community in general...

Overseas Vietnamese, regardless of generation or location, as descendants of Lac and Hong, are always a part of the flesh and blood, an inseparable part of the Fatherland, always present in the hearts and feelings of the Vietnamese nation and people.

And no matter where, in what conditions, what age, what nationality, as a person of Vietnamese blood, as a patriotic Vietnamese, everyone can contribute to the Fatherland in their own way. Because love for the Fatherland is a simple, close and natural thing, a natural and legitimate need and desire of all of us.

The Ambassador shared that Lunar New Year - the traditional Tet holiday is always special and sacred to every Vietnamese person. And that specialness has been recognized internationally by the recent decision of the United Nations to consider the first day of the Lunar New Year as one of the 10 United Nations holidays.

In a warm, friendly and united atmosphere, the Ambassador wished a Happy New Year to all people and the community, hoping that, with the exchanges and meetings, with peach blossoms, apricot blossoms and traditional dishes, bearing the soul of the Vietnamese people on the occasion of the New Year, the flavor of Tet will be somewhat spread to all Vietnamese people and Pakistani friends. The nostalgia and desire to celebrate Tet in the Fatherland will be filled with the accumulation of great successes in studying and working, and then burst into happiness when being immersed in a real Tet in the homeland of Vietnam in the not too distant future.
