Urgent request for new construction of 'collapsed' embankment at Tuyen Lam Lake

Báo Thanh niênBáo Thanh niên07/08/2023

On August 7, the Management Board of Tuyen Lam National Tourist Area (Da Lat City, Lam Dong) said that it had submitted a document to the Provincial People's Committee for consideration and issuance of an emergency construction order for the project to maintain and repair landslides on roads in the tourist area.

The embankment "waiting to collapse" at Tuyen Lam Lake National Tourist Area

Previously, as Thanh Nien reported, the embankment on Hoa Do Quyen Street, the main road connecting Lien Khuong - Prenn Highway to Tuyen Lam Lake National Tourist Area and Da Lat City, has been in a state of disrepair for many months and is in a state of no known collapse at any time, causing residents and tourists to feel "chill" when traveling on this road.

Since February 2023, when Prenn Pass "closed" to traffic to serve the construction of upgrading and expansion, Hoa Do Quyen Street and Mimosa Pass became the two main roads in and out of Da Lat City in the direction of National Highway 20, so there are many vehicles (except trucks) circulating every day.

However, on Hoa Do Quyen Street, there is a section of embankment close to the road about 100m long, in which the middle section has a section made of stone cages about 50m long, more than 3m high and is sloping, showing signs of moving out "waiting to collapse", making people worried about their lives and property.

According to the Tuyen Lam Lake National Tourist Area Management Board, in addition to the above location, on Hoa Hong Street in the tourist area, there is also a drainage culvert at Km4+127.05 that is eroded and subsided, threatening traffic safety in the area.

Therefore, in order to promptly handle and implement the work of preventing, combating and limiting the serious consequences that may occur due to continuous and prolonged storms in the coming time, the Management Board of Tuyen Lam National Tourist Area submitted to the Provincial People's Committee to issue an order to urgently construct the above project to ensure the safety of people, tourists and ensure traffic safety in areas at risk of landslides. The total investment (the two above locations) is expected to be about 4 billion VND from the 2023 flood and storm prevention fund.

Regarding this proposal, on August 7, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Phuc, Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee signed a document assigning the Department of Planning and Investment to preside over and coordinate with relevant departments, branches and units to consider the proposal of the Tuyen Lam Lake National Tourism Area Management Board, specifically inspect and advise the Provincial People's Committee before August 10.
