Keeping children and young people safe online

According to modern trends, students have access to the internet earlier. This is an opportunity but also a challenge for schools and teachers in teaching children about cyber safety.

Vietnam has nearly 78 million Internet users, 70 million social media users and 161.6 million active mobile connections (1/2023). More and more people, including adolescents, are using the Internet to study, shop, entertain, communicate, and access services. This also contributes to increasing online risks for users, especially children and adolescents facing gender-based violence and online abuse. 91% of boys and girls participating in the survey have Internet access, but only 10% of them have knowledge and skills to use the Internet safely. Victims of online abuse often experience a range of negative emotions such as: Fear (43.3%), shame (41.5%), loss of confidence (43%).

Chien Pho Ethnic Boarding Secondary School, Hoang Su Phi District, Ha Giang Province has paid early attention and had many specific activities to protect children from the increasing risks in cyberspace. The school has built communication initiatives, chaired many activities aimed at protecting and supporting children to interact healthily in cyberspace.
