On the afternoon of December 12, on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th anniversary of National Defense Day, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited the National Defense Academy (Ministry of National Defense).
Also attending were leaders of ministries, branches, officers, lecturers, students, staff and soldiers of the National Defense Academy.
The National Defense Academy, formerly the Advanced Military Academy, was established on February 21, 1976. Over 48 years of construction, growth and development, the Academy has always successfully completed all assigned tasks, making an important contribution to the cause of training and fostering senior officials of the Party, State and armed forces; researching and developing military science and art; carrying out defense foreign affairs, actively contributing to the cause of building and defending the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland.
The Academy was awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces in the Renovation Period, the Ho Chi Minh Medal, 02 First Class Independence Medals and many other noble awards. In the past 10 years, the Academy has continuously been awarded the Flag of the leading unit in the emulation movement to win by the Government and the Ministry of National Defense.
Inheriting and promoting tradition in the new era of the nation
Speaking to leaders of ministries, sectors, officers, soldiers and students, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his pleasure to visit the National Defense Academy - the leading center for training, education, research on military arts and science and international cooperation in training of the army and the country.
The Prime Minister emphasized that over the past 80 years, under the absolute and direct leadership of the Party in all aspects, with the love and protection of the people and the help of international friends, the Vietnam People's Army has achieved many glorious feats and great victories, built a heroic tradition, a glorious career, and glorified the history of building and defending the country of the nation, worthy of being the heroic army of the heroic Vietnamese people as President Ho Chi Minh said: "Our army is loyal to the Party, filial to the people, ready to fight and sacrifice for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland, for socialism. Every task is completed, every difficulty is overcome, every enemy is defeated".
The Prime Minister stated: With the art of people's war, the art of guerrilla warfare, combined with the art of modern warfare, the tradition of the Vietnam People's Army is closely linked to the revolutionary cause of the Party and our people, beautifying the image of Uncle Ho's soldiers in the hearts of the people and every soldier is proud of the tradition of the army. This is a fulcrum for us to be self-reliant and self-reliant, and we must continue to inherit and promote this tradition in the era of national development.
In recent years, to meet the requirements and tasks of protecting the Fatherland in the new situation, the Vietnam People's Army is focusing on building a lean, strong, revolutionary, disciplined, elite, and modern army. Our army is truly a "fighting army", "working army", "production labor army", always a pioneering, exemplary force, leading in difficulties and hardships, making important contributions to the achievements of national construction and development; enhancing Vietnam's position and prestige in the international arena.
The Prime Minister appreciated that promoting the heroic tradition of the army and as a leading center for education, training, scientific research and international cooperation of the army and the country, the National Defense Academy has made many contributions to the common achievements of the army and the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.
After 48 years of construction and growth, always seriously grasping and effectively implementing the Party's guidelines, policies and viewpoints, the State's policies and laws, the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense, the National Defense Academy has achieved many important achievements and results.
Accordingly, the Academy does a good job of strategic consulting on military, national defense, and army building. Researching, summarizing practices, consulting, and proposing many theoretical and practical issues of value in planning policies, guidelines, mechanisms, and policies on national defense, security, and military; building armed forces, developing economy, culture, and society associated with national defense, security, and building and protecting the Fatherland in the new situation.
The Academy has trained tens of thousands of senior military officers; fostered national defense and security knowledge for thousands of senior officers of the Party, State and armed forces; trained hundreds of doctors and masters of military science, contributing to improving the quality of the cadres of the Party, State and armed forces. Training has made many advances, with increasingly high quality; closely following reality to adjust the content, programs, and training methods.
Along with that, actively implement the foreign policy of the Party and State, defense diplomacy; strengthen exchanges, academic research, experience sharing at international forums, with universities, academies, and defense research institutes of many countries, contributing to enhancing the international position of the army and the country.
Proactively build facilities, techniques, barracks, information technology infrastructure, digital transformation, promote the application of science and technology. Build an advanced and modern cultural and pedagogical environment; build a strong Party organization that is exemplary in politics, ideology, organization, ethics and staff, a comprehensively strong Academy that is "exemplary and typical". Pay attention to the material and spiritual life of cadres, students, employees and soldiers; build a team of excellent cadres and leading experts in teaching and scientific research.
These are very important achievements and results, clearly demonstrating the mettle, responsibility, daring to think, daring to do, innovation, creativity, and determination of the Party Committee, Board of Directors, and the will, determination, responsibility, and great efforts of all cadres, lecturers, students, staff, and soldiers of the National Defense Academy. On behalf of the Government leaders, the Prime Minister warmly congratulated and commended the achievements and efforts of cadres, lecturers, students, staff, and soldiers of the National Defense Academy in recent years.
International cooperation is a breakthrough in training.
The Prime Minister stated that 2025 is of special significance, marking the 95th anniversary of the Party's founding, the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification, the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday, and the 80th anniversary of the founding of the country.
The task is very heavy, we must both "accelerate and break through", strive to successfully achieve the socio-economic development goals of the entire 2021-2025 term; at the same time, we must reorganize the apparatus; successfully organize party congresses at all levels towards the 14th National Congress of the Party.
Meanwhile, the world and regional situation is forecast to continue to develop in a complex and unpredictable manner; difficulties, challenges and opportunities are intertwined, but difficulties and challenges are greater. The cause of building and defending the Fatherland faces many difficulties and challenges, and poses heavy tasks for the military, including the National Defense Academy.
To fulfill assigned tasks well and contribute more to the army and the country, the Prime Minister requested the Academy to continue to do well in a number of key tasks.
Accordingly, monitor, grasp, and correctly assess the world and regional situation, correctly assess the subjects and partners to provide strategic advice to the Party and State in building and defending the Fatherland, avoid strategic surprises, and respond to policies promptly and effectively. Promote the Academy's tradition, participate in implementing major Party policies such as summarizing Resolution 18-NQ/TW; organize Party congresses at all levels well, continue to improve the leadership capacity and fighting strength of Party organizations and Party members.
At the same time, thoroughly grasp and seriously and effectively implement the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws on military, national defense and security. Do a good job of strategic advisory work; focus on summarizing, researching and perfecting theories, science and art on military and national defense. Improve the quality of research and forecasting the situation to have policies and strategic solutions for national development, while maintaining independence and autonomy. At the same time, promote research and propose solutions for socio-economic development associated with ensuring national defense, security and foreign affairs.
Continue to improve the quality of training and education, actively contributing to the building and improving the quality of cadres of the Party, State, and armed forces, meeting the requirements and tasks in the new situation. Promote digital transformation, accelerate the modernization and application of science and technology. Update the impacts of science and technology on the military, defense, and security sectors.
Effectively implement the foreign policy of the Party and State, promote foreign affairs and defense cooperation in a practical and effective manner; contribute to promoting military and defense relations with major countries, strategic partners, ASEAN countries and traditional friends. Well perform the task of training and fostering senior military officers for Laos, Cambodia and other countries.
"International cooperation is a breakthrough in training, of great significance, contributing to countries understanding each other, exchanging and jointly solving issues of common concern," said the Prime Minister.
Actively participate in the fight to defeat plots and tricks to sabotage the Party, State and army; do a good job of protecting internal politics and security; and fight against "self-evolution" and "self-transformation" within the Party.
Focus on investing in developing the Academy to be worthy of being a leading center for training and fostering senior officials; for scientific research, development and international cooperation, and a cradle for training talents of the army and the nation.
Building a team of cadres and lecturers who are politically and ideologically strong; good at professional expertise; have strategic thinking; have intelligence and practical capacity to meet task requirements.
Building strong and exemplary Party committees, Party organizations and cadres and Party members; building a united and united Party organization with high leadership capacity and fighting spirit, associated with building a regular, advanced and exemplary Academy, a digital, green, clean and beautiful Academy.
The Prime Minister affirmed: The Party, State and Government always pay attention to leading, directing and creating favorable conditions for the National Defense Academy to become a modern military and defense training and scientific research center on par with other countries in the region and the world, and of international stature. The Prime Minister requested to develop a specific project, report and propose to competent authorities to implement this goal, in which more attention should be paid to building the Academy's brand and making English the second language at the Academy.
With the glorious tradition of 48 years of construction, development and growth, the Prime Minister believes that the National Defense Academy will continue to innovate, have strong and breakthrough developments, excellently complete the tasks entrusted to it by the Party, State, Government, army and people, and increasingly contribute to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.
