The goal is to build Phu Quy Island, Binh Thuan Province into a center for exploitation, fishing logistics services, combined with search and rescue at sea in the region and the whole country; focusing on the reasonable development of the scale of each field, focusing on offshore seafood exploitation, preservation, preliminary processing of products and fishing logistics services; a center for search and rescue, handling incidents, emergencies, and rescue at sea to increase income and improve the lives of fishermen associated with ensuring national defense and security of the sea and islands of the Fatherland.
The specific objective is to provide fishing vessels with a length of over 30 m to anchor and safely take shelter from storms (of Binh Thuan province and provinces with fishing vessels operating in the fishing grounds of Binh Thuan and neighboring sea areas); ensure safety for people and vehicles carrying out rescue work in the waters of Binh Thuan province and some neighboring provinces.
Ensuring the capacity of gathering, unloading, classifying, transiting and consuming services inside and outside the province through fishing ports reaches about 25,000 tons/year, minimizing product loss after exploitation, meeting food hygiene and safety conditions, increasing the value of exploited aquatic products.
Invest in upgrading and developing Phu Quy fishing port combined with storm shelter for fishing vessels to become a logistics service center for seafood exploitation, marine aquaculture (mariculture), and regional and national fisheries trade; effectively support marine aquaculture, fishing vessels inside and outside the province operating in the fishing grounds of Binh Thuan sea and neighboring sea areas. By 2045, Phu Quy Island will become a center for exploitation, logistics services for fisheries, search and rescue at sea; develop synchronously, comprehensively, and modernly on par with logistics service centers in the region and the world; integrate and increase the value of marine exploitation and aquaculture products; improve exploitation efficiency, ensure safety for people and means of exploitation, aquaculture and transportation at sea; ensure national defense and security of the sea and islands of the Fatherland.
To achieve the above objectives, the Project sets out the main tasks. Specifically, to develop Phu Quy Island into an exploitation center, the Project continues to invest in and complete the storm shelter anchorage area for fishing vessels on Phu Quy Island; invest in facilities, equipment, and resources for Phu Quy Island fishing port; control IUU fishing activities; and organize production at sea.
