In addition, there are other outstanding athletes such as Nguyen Thi Oanh (athletics, 4 gold medals at SEA Games 32), Nguyen Huy Hoang (swimming, 3 gold medals at SEA Games 32, Olympic ticket), Nguyen Thi That (cycling, Asian gold medal, Olympic ticket)... According to the assessment of the leaders of the Department of Sports and Physical Training, shooter Pham Quang Huy "finished" in the top position because he achieved the highest achievement in the Olympic group.
Pham Quang Huy brought home a historic gold medal for Vietnamese shooting at the ASIAD. He followed the example of his father - the famous former shooter Pham Cao Son. When he was still on the Vietnamese shooting team, he also won the leading position in the vote for the most outstanding athlete in 1990, after that year's ASIAD.
In addition, Pham Quang Huy's ASIAD 19 gold medal also shows the will and perseverance of this shooter to pursue his passion after 11 years. This is the first gold medal, relieving the pressure on the Vietnamese sports delegation at ASIAD 19 in Hangzhou (China). Notably, this is also the first gold medal of Vietnamese shooting at the ASIAD arena.
At the 19th ASIAD, in addition to the historic gold medal in the men's 10m air pistol event, Pham Quang Huy also won a bronze medal in the 10m air pistol team event. The top 10 outstanding athletes of Vietnam sports in 2023 after Pham Quang Huy are Nguyen Thi Oanh, Nguyen Thi That, Nguyen Huy Hoang, Nguyen Thuy Linh (badminton), Nguyen Van Khanh Phong (gymnastics), Nguyen Thi Huyen (athletics), Tran Thi Ngoc Yen (sepak takraw), Trinh Thu Vinh (shooting), Bao Phuong Vinh.
Pham Quang Huy is trying to win a ticket to the 2024 Olympics.
Sharing after being honored as the best athlete of Vietnamese sports in 2023, shooter Pham Quang Huy said that this noble title is the motivation for him to strive for higher achievements, in which the most immediate goal is to hunt for a ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics. The shooter born in 1996 also hopes that not only he but also other athletes of Vietnamese sports will always receive the companionship and sharing of fans to increase their determination and efforts on the journey to conquer the peak, contributing to the country's sports.
Pham Quang Huy said that his training day starts from 8-11am and 2-4:30pm. He also spends 30-45 minutes a day on physical training. With the goal of pursuing a long-term shooting career, he is studying at the Faculty of Sports Training at Tu Son University of Physical Education and Sports (Bac Ninh) and spends 2 hours every night (from 7-9pm) studying online. In addition to training and studying, he also focuses on resting and getting enough sleep to be in a clear state to play a sport that requires high concentration.
One of the pride and pressure for Pham Quang Huy is that he grew up in a family with a tradition of shooting, with his father being a famous former athlete and coach Pham Cao Son, and his mother being a former shooter Dang Thi Hang. Thanks to his parents pursuing shooting, Huy was exposed to this sport early. Although he comes from a family of shooting experts, his career was not smooth when there was a time when he was sent back to his hometown by expert Park Chung-gun, and it was also this expert who was good, strict, and passionate about Vietnamese shooting who gave him the opportunity to return, pointed out his weaknesses and solutions to perfect each technique and mentality to achieve what he has today.
Women's football team honored
