Struggling with bicycles
Cycling is one of the few Vietnamese sports where the national and youth teams are regularly focused, creating quite positive changes in achievements, such as racer Nguyen Thi That, who won the Asian gold medal three times (in 2018, 2022, 2023). Nguyen Thi That's success comes from the cooperation of many parties such as the Vietnam Cycling Federation (VCF), Loc Troi An Giang Group Club. Above all, it is the effort and desire to conquer of the racer who participated in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

VCF actively connected to send Nguyen Thi That to train in Korea under the auspices of the International Cycling Union (UCI). Training with good experts, modern training equipment, and quality training partners helped this cyclist make remarkable progress. At the age of 31, she is still the number 1 hope of the Vietnamese cycling team at the Asian Championship taking place in Thailand.
How to produce more Nguyen Thi That for Vietnamese cycling is a difficult problem, because according to the coaches, she is a special talent. Vietnamese cycling also focuses on investing in the next generation of athletes and has 2 Asian youth champions (in 2023), Nguyen Thi Be Hong, Thach Thi Ngoc Thao, and a group of potential young players, but there is still no sign of anyone replacing their seniors. In the men's force, Vietnamese cycling is increasingly falling behind Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia. Many opinions say that Vietnamese cycling needs to hire good experts, at the same time, there is close coordination and dedication from domestic coaches to hone new talents. Besides, Vietnamese cycling players (including young players) need to compete in many international tournaments to improve their level instead of having too few tournaments as at present.
Mr. Hoang Quoc Vinh, Head of High Performance Sports Department 1 (Department of Sports and Physical Training), said that investment in key sports, including cycling, will be carefully done from athlete and coach selection, expert hiring plan, training and competition plan... and the effectiveness will be evaluated in each stage for timely adjustment.
Shooting Team Gets Into a New Cycle
As a sport considered the number 1 spearhead, since the beginning of this year, the Vietnamese shooting team has carefully prepared both the national team and the youth team and has a new Mongolian expert, Altantsetseg Byambajavyn.
At the 2025 Asian Shooting Cup taking place in Thailand, the Vietnamese shooting team participated with a strong force of 18 athletes. The two most important faces of the Vietnamese shooting team, Trinh Thu Vinh and Pham Quang Huy, combined well to win the gold medal in the 10m mixed team pistol event. Yesterday, February 13, in their strong individual event, Thu Vinh and Quang Huy stopped with a bronze medal. Experts and fans feel sorry for these two shooters because there was a time when they held the opportunity to have a higher result but failed to take advantage of it.
According to the coaching staff, the Asian Shooting Cup is the first international tournament in 2025 for the Vietnamese shooting team. This is an opportunity to test and evaluate the performance of the players, thereby making appropriate adjustments. It is expected that this year, the Vietnamese shooting team will participate in 20-22 tournaments, including 3 important tournaments: the Asian Championship (August in Kazakhstan), the World Championship (November in Egypt) and the 33rd SEA Games (December in Thailand)...
