Dien Bien district opens Ban Phu Citadel Festival - The 11th Dien Bien District Ethnic Culture, Sports and Tourism Festival, 2025

On March 23, at the National Relic Site of Ban Phu Citadel, the People's Committee of Dien Bien district held the opening ceremony of the Ban Phu Citadel Festival 2025.

Attending the opening ceremony were Secretary of Dien Bien Provincial Party Committee Tran Quoc Cuong and provincial leaders, delegations from Phon Thoong and Muong May districts (Phong Sa Ly province, Lao PDR); delegations from Hoa Binh, Bac Giang and Thai Binh provinces.

This is a practical activity to celebrate the 271st anniversary of the victory of Hoang Cong Chat's army in liberating Muong Thanh (1754 - 2025), the 71st anniversary of the historic Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2025), to welcome the Party Congresses at all levels towards the 14th National Congress of the Party and major political events of the country, province and district in 2025.

Thanh Ban Phu Festival is held annually on February 24 and 25 of the lunar calendar to commemorate the merits of General Hoang Cong Chat, a Thai Binh leader who had great contributions in defeating invaders, expanding the land area, and maintaining the Dien Bien border.

Previously, on the evening of March 22, the opening ceremony of the 5th Dien Bien District Ethnic Culture, Sports and Tourism Festival 2025 took place. Activities within the framework of the Festival include: Mass art competition; Performance and introduction of ethnic costumes; Performance of xoè dance, community stalls; Folk games; Sports competition; Product display; Artistic painting exhibition.

Ban Phu Citadel Festival - The fifth Cultural, Sports and Tourism Festival of Dien Bien District's ethnic groups in 2025 will take place from March 21 to March 24, 2025./.
